Hi Marty Are your trucks or crew size 3 or 4 men per crew in a truck and have you found a most effective crew size? LMN is confusing especially when we only have 32 weeks to work in the Chicago area abd efficiency is so important.
Thanks for the question! We do 3-person crews as our standard and it works for us, but we know other companies do crews of different sizes and it works for them. There isn't necessarily a magic number that's more or less efficient, it's all about what you're set up to do (i.e. can 4 people fit into one of your trucks, or are they then taking multiple vehicles?)
Hi Marty I have a question I own a design-build landscape construction company and I struggle with direct labor What is the most efficient crew size 3 or 4-man crew? I feel at some point there may not be enough work to always keep 4 guys busy? Love your show👍
Thanks for listening to the show! Grunder Landscaping Co.'s typical crew is 3 people, but it's really about what you're set up to do. We use our software to track hours by the jobs, so we know approximately how long each stop on a route will take and schedule accordingly. Hope that helps!

After 30 yrs of landscape, i already know the guys are not as involved as the owner.... Pay more, , we all know you xan pay all employees $25+ /hr But nobody does....even in the mid west.....i paid the guys $25+/hr... And say your worth this much, keep up the good work... Not all company's undercut employee hourly pay......
How does this work with current/ existing employees? Have you found that they do not hold a grudge and or get mad that you are literally advertising $1,000 bonuses for new hires
Hi David, existing team members are eligible for other bonuses and incentives that new team members are not. They're well taken care of, and we haven't seen this particular bonus cause issues.
