That’s so strange the walleye bite has really slowed at Winne. I’m glad we went and had a good trip when we did (last week). Any idea why it would be slowing down so much? If I remember correctly you were saying a couple weeks back they were getting up to 30 or 40 per day!
I think it has to do with the storms and all the up and down in temperatures. Yes, the South Side had been producing a ton of fish. I would expect that the bite will pick back up once the weather calms down
We are heading up to leech and Cass here this coming Thursday staying at horseshoe bay.. try and get the skinny on Cass ...see u on the water somewhere...
If you mention us at Horseshoe Bay Lodge, you will get a discount on your room. The perch bite has been getting really good on both leech and Cass. Good luck and have a ton of fun
I’ve noticed something lately from fishing and talking with lots of fishermen. Most people always say you gotta fish morning or close to evening but honestly I think there’s a midday walleye bite if it’s not sunny and zero wind glassy calm. This nearby lake that we fished multiple times in the last 10 days hasn’t produced a walleye before 11:00! And we caught them all between that time and 3:00! The boat we saw catching them using livescope was experiencing the same.
Just heard another report that a guy didn’t start catching them there till midday a few days back. Daniel LivinMN outdoors, can you confirm if the midday bite is actually better if given some wind, and cloud cover even better.
Midday walleye bites are definitely a thing. I believe that whether it is calm or windy or cloudy or sunny they still will bite midday. However, it is definitely easier to catch them on Windy overcast days. They are not as spooky and let you get closer to them on those days. If calm and sunny, just park further off the structure you are fishing them on and you can still find success.
@@LivinMNOutdoors Our group of 3 made it up there. Caught about 14 so it was good but not tremendous. Morning bite was good then it slowed down around noon contradicting what I was mentioning. Trip was about 8:00-2:00pm.
6-9ft trolling spinners! WOW! I can’t imagine even doing that. How do they keep the bait far enough from the boat? We saw some people today on a nearby smaller lake using Livescope in 9ft weeds casting way out in front and they caught about 10 walleye. But 6-9ft is pretty crazy right? Do you suppose that’s nighttime?
We usually use a split shot or 1/4 oz egg sinker to get away from the boat a little bit, it seems like they hunker down between weed clumps waiting for easy meals to swim by. Will report back in about 8 hours how the bite is we leave at 5 am for it, my favorite bite of the year!
Using a 1/8 oz inline bullet weight. It allows you to get your spinner to your desired depth and get it far enough behind the boat. They are catching them all day long.
@@LivinMNOutdoorsreally tough sledding right now, making a big move back into tamarack bay now it’s just too windy on the north end to get across comfortably
@@fisher_man_sam Wow Thank you so much for replying with that Fishing tip. I would’ve never thought of that because I would think the fish would still be behind the boat. But I suppose that’s similar to trolling crankbaits way behind the boat. Any report would be a big blessing. Hope you did well Today fishing! We’re thinking of getting a guide there this week but not sure yet
Been to alot of the smaller lakes. Panfish still going crazy on smaller leaches and worms. 8-10 fot. Been to 6 lakes east of mille lacs in last week right off the weeds... even getting some walleye bi catch targeting panfish.
Hey there buddy I'd really like for you to possibly throw in Burnside lake lake trout fishing as well if you can I know a lot of us would definitely appreciate it
I was up on winnie all last week and it was good. During the day we fished in the 15-20ft range and 10-12ft range During low light. We pulled sliver spinners behind bottom bouncers with crawlers. The quality of the fish is very good right now with a 17-18" average.
8' - 22' of water. There are less out deeper, but they tend to be a lot bigger. As far as artificials, Ned Rigs and Drop shots are working best slip Bobbers with nightcrawlers and rigging sucker minnows is working good as well.
Thanks, Daniel appreciate the report. I don't know about everybody else. But I sure am looking forward to hard water. I just got my thing in the mail. So we ordered tickets for the hard water ice show. I'm getting geared up and ready for the ice.
@@LivinMNOutdoors Glad to hear it! I have a place on the NW side of Mille Lacs. Fished in 18’ over the weekend and got into some really nice size bass.
