Thank-you for this! Seems so simple but I've been searching for a video on attaching a furled leader to the lillian and this was the first to actually show it. One note from watching many others - if you run the lillian around the loop a second time (not just through once as you did here), before pulling it tight, then the lillian doubles up and you do not need the knot at the end of the lillian, but it's still easy to detach them again. When you don't need the knot at the end of in the lillian, it makes the whole rig easier to store, etc.
Camera off the subject when it came to the critical move of making the loop, so it's not easy to see exactly how you did it. Yeah it should be easy to figure out, but if you are going to show people how it's done, show the method 100%, so its crystal clear what to do, no guessing required.
Furled leaders come with the loop, it isn't a step you need to execute, and without it, the furled leader would re-coil itself like twisted string or rope, and be really hard to work with. If you do need to replace the loop at the end of a furled leader for any reason, most just double the ends and tie a simple overhand knot as it isn't a weight-bearing section if you're rigging right.
Luong thanks for this video. My brothers and I have just finished fishing the Tenkara method for the first time. Phil, unfortunately began dismantling his rod from the top. The small top and second smallest sections have both firmly jammed, side by side inside the third section. We removed the through the bottom end of the handle. From watching you instruction I appreciate they will have to come out backwards however they really are jammed solid. Have you any further advice eg pull the smallest one backwards first. Any help would be great fully appreciated.
Hi, I'm new to this... I've just bought the rod . Can you tell me where to get Lillian string from. Preferably Australia if possible, as i cant find people who sell it. Thanks
Ray is a great man! I had the pleasure of working with him for over 10 years in the newspaper industry! The guy obviously knows what the hell he’s doing and is super-good at it! One of only a small handful of fly-fishing masters in the world! Love ya, man!
I thought you were supposed to back cast, stop at 12 o’clock position, hold for about 2 seconds or until your line straightens out and loads the rod, then forward cast, stop at the 10 o’clock position and lay the line out flat.
sir what abt replacing the different fix zoom section tenkara rod? Is that any different from this rod or not? i mean is it hard to do replace the section of rod byself? #need_guidennce
Hi there! Your casting is beautiful ! Would share with us the rod length, the length of your line and that new line you are working on is it a furled line? What kind of material is that line and long was your tippet? I know. it’s a lot of questions I’m a curious guy! Feel free to answer me if you want! Thanks a lot and you definitely have a tight loop in these beautiful cast!😃
more info: www.indiegogo.com/projects/tanuki-pocket-ninja-fly-fishers-best-friend/ref/24442363/UT-01 it is carbon fiber rod. rod tube is also carbon fiber as well
$55 express from US. The best way to save money is to purchase more than one rod package. if you have three people together, you could other a package of two rod and please the third one on the same pledge. You would save one both end, shipping and volume.
You are talking about advance casting for dry fly. For nymphing, use very fine line instead of floating line and also shorter the line. - You don't have straight line with dry fly.
*I haven't fly fished in about 6 years, and wasn't very good at it. >>>**nub.best/abka** This is my first time doing tenkara, the shadowfire 360 has been amazing! I used the 3 Tenkara flies, lost two in the trees and the third one I pulled several fish. I have used western flies as well and they work just as well.*
