Rider did nothing wrong. He needed to get away from the horse for safety. Aside from that, we are asking far too much from our equine companions. They should not be in competitions of any kind. Winning a race or a trophy is for the human's vanity.
I used to compete in jumping. Horses should not be meant to do this. They are beautiful souls that have served mankind for millennia. It's time to respect them and their spirit. I did not watch this video as I could not bear to see this warrior die in such a way. God Bless you Hickstead you deserved better.
I swear these people need to SHUT up. They didn’t abuse him till his death. He had a genetic defect and if vets and the owners found out sooner they could have retired him. THEY DIDNT ABUSE OR RIDE HIM TO HIS DEATH ISTG
It was later found he did not die of a heart attack. In Verona,Italy on November 6th 2011 hickstead collapsed and shortly died. At the time he was paired with Lamaze, the number one rider of the world. Eric Lamaze had praised his horse in 2006. Hickstead died of an aortic rupture (proved by a necropsy, an aortic rupture is when all layers of the aorta wall tear, causing blood to leak out from the aorta due to a large aneurysm that bursts). Hickstead was proven to have the FAA1 gene defect, a genetic defect which ups the chances of having aortic ruptured, hicksteads life was a ticking time bomb. If his owners and vet knew sooner they would’ve retired him.
@@AjaykumarShukla-vf8ku Actually....we DO know what happened to Hickstead. He was born with a genetic defect that caused his aortic walls to be thin. He died of a ruptured aorta. If you people would just do A LITTLE research before you start flapping your gums!!! 🤦🏼♀️🙄
This is why they shouldn't push horses to their extreme limit. This is why they shouldn't have these types of competitions. They should shut these kinds of competitions down so the horses can live in peace

i'm sure he would have comforted hickstead. also, he's holding a crop. not abusive at all:) hickstead would have needed space and the care that professional vets could do. i understand your point of view though
Guys aren't always like that. They are not always as affectionate. He was depressed for awhile after it happened. He blamed himself. So judgemental. It's hard to comfort a horse that is thrashing around.

@@Corporal_alexalthough chronic stress, irregular heartbeats and shortness of breath can increase strokes and heart attacks, hickstead did not suffer a heart attack but rather suffered an aortic rupture caused by a genetic defect called the FAA1 defect.
