HI Roger. Having been recommended by our roofer to replace our 38 year old timber velux windows with Keylite windows BEFORE he replaces the bitumen hessian sarking felt with a breathable membrane and installs our Solar PV panel system I'm interested to know what differences apply to fitting the flashing on our PANTILE roof.
Either a little screw by the pull-down handle, or in my case, a little white quick release switch. Then pull the handle down harder than you think. Pop, open!
What happens if the tab forgets to be pulled and is then boarded and plastered? This will result in water ingress / condensation?? Would the reveals have to be removed to access the tabs and so they can be pulled. @rogerbisbey
Hi. What type of roof sheet do you recommend to minimize the chance of roof windows leaking? I must admit that these sealing collars for wavy sheets do not appeal to me.
Hello Roger, I’ve just installed my first two Keylite windows exactly in accordance with your video and Keylites installation guide. They both leak from the top corners because the tiling had not been completed. In other words, any water that gets through the tiling runs over the breathable membrane and into the holes at the corners where there is no flashing provision. This is a design failing that I am having to rectify using an EPDM flashing after removing the support brackets at the top corners. Maybe you can use your influence to encourage Keylite to produce a redesign that addresses this appalling problem?
Hi, i’ve been trying to programme the remote ( there are 3 remotes for 3 windows ) but on opening the window the LED doesn’t flash - to start off the process. We’ve just had to open the windows manually when needed. Can anyone help please ? It’s a solar keylite window installed new by previous owners just before property was sold. Many thanks

Roger, great idea. Is there a minimum requirement of insulation thickness between the inside of rafters and the plasterboard edge surrounding the the window recess? thanks
Didn't use a keylite... which I notice has some 'chain' spring extenders. I used a B&Q... still a good product...BUT... The springs fitted as per instruction would have been under too great a tension, risking pulling fittings free... I used a couple of strips of that galvanised steel stripping with holes perforated along the length to create spring extenders which reduced overall tension (still operates properly) and made the springs easier to fit. On the opposite side of where the hatch hinges down, I also installed an upright panel in the loft. This reduces massively the risk of someone moving around in the loft space stepping back and falling down through the open hatch.
Step 1. glue the blind to the frame before securing it with screws. Genius! I've been wondering for weeks why I can't remove my broken unit after I've taken all the screws out.
Yup. Completely unacceptable. Have avoided all attempts at contact, too. For anyone viewing this and hasn't bought a keylite electric window, please don't.
Would be amazing if the window wasn't already closed so cannot assing the remote to anything. It was working fine for a year now it doesn't work and I cannot physically open the window
At 5.45 minutes he was installing a cut tile on the flashing I noticed it slip and he held it with his hand then I noticed when he put the second cut on above it, there was no nail in the first cut, is that inferring you do not nail through the flashing and it has to have a different mechanical fixing ?
I wondered exactly that, looks like the tile nail would go right through that whole edge assembly creating a perfect hole for rain to seep through. I guess it's OK of the nail hole is off set, so I guess you have to drill one. Tip: Buy some spare tiles.
Hi Wh\t is the dimension of the hatch cover, please? I can't find it anywhere in the video. I need the hatch cover the 95cm by 60 cm (L=95cm B = 60 cm)? Is this suitable? If not can this be adjusted?
What a fabulous video! Visually but the music! phenomenal! I really like the look of these, they seem well designed and made. I'm in need of a loft ladder; so this looks the business.
Geez that looks easy, my wife should be-able handle that. If she gets stuck, i can watch the video again while giving instructions at problem points if any.
To people who just got these and can't pull em up or down properly, They do retract properly. You need to push them in (toward the window) and then pull down. Same when going up. If you don't, the blinds catch system makes it really rough to move up and down and you'll ruin em
Thank you for posting this. the guy that installed our Keylite blind couldn't get out blind to work after the remote fell on the ground. Said it was probably the battery and would get back to us... he never did! After many, many calls to him (he would not return our messages) it's been almost 12 months since installation. So I decided to take a look at it myself... because it had been working initially I thought I'd start by checking for cracked solder joints on the remotes board... Nope, all looked as it should there, so I put the remote back together... Next was the battery... Nope, it was holding a charge of 13.5volts... Could it be that he simply didn't re-pair the remote correctly when he came to look at it that one time? So I followed the instructions in your video and what do you know, the blind now works, albeit the up button makes the blind go down and the down button makes the blind go up. At least we can stop the hot sun from heating up our dining room now. YAY!
