I was on a Marianela binge a few years back, and I was DESPERATELY searching for footage of this scene at the time. I always came up dry and disappointed because I just knew that she'd absolutely eat this performance up; not only from a technical perspective, but from an acting perspective (which I feel no one quite does as well as her). Boy, was I right!
She's like Toscanini and Maria Callas: once you've seen her, everyone else looks just a little bit boring. It's as if Tchaikovsky composed his music with her in mind.
