Watch the we HBO documentary “Listening to Kenny G” from the “Music Box” series on HBO…it’ll open your eyes despite any options you have formed on him….yea he is the product of the industry and kinda pushes in the consumer…yes his music is not Jazz….yea he writes within the chords and stays pretty much inside those chords….yes this make it “easy listening”….but at the end of the day his hard work of thousands of hours of practice is apparent and frankly makes him the most successful saxophonist of all time….he actually worships the Jazz master of the 50s and 60s and doesn’t consider himself to be in that class…it’s the Jazz snobs that fell for the industry’s pitch of him being something he’s not you suckers….bottom line is he is the King of that horn like it or not….just ask your kids that are learning to play the sax now who they listen to and emulate …it’s Kenny G….
@@truemanmontfort8031 it doesn't look like English is your first language, but still this is a good comment. I actually think I formed premature opinions on Kenny G based pretty much only on Pat Metheny's opinions, but at the end of the day he's just doing his own thing and doing it well. I still can't stand his music, but I'm glad I've learned to respect what he does, after all, he's far more skilled than I am at the sax, who am I to judge.
