@@i_wouldprefer_not_to1196 First of all, you're really not as funny as you think you are. Second of all, ever been to Bradford? It's been nicknamed Bradistan for years. If Rita Sue and Bob too actually happened (which it didn't, it's a story) then one of the girls being of Asian descent wouldn't be that unusual. Sorry to burst your white power fantasy. Also, it's a theatrical interpretation of a film, who cares? Did you even go to see it on stage? I bet you didn't. So I don't see what difference it makes to your life.
The original is such a classic it will be amazing if this cast can pull it off, especially in a small theatre. I wish them well and would see it myself if it came my way. Please pass on the real story of Andrea Dunbar the tragic author of this brilliant story.
It's a really great thing that you have made this play, my family date back to Walkern over 800 years and we still live there. You said you put on smaller plays but i dont believe you ever put one on in Walkern for those of us that grew up alongside Jane Wenham the witch from Walkern? I do think a lot of people would very much like to see the play in Walkern if that was possible?? If this is something that could be arranged please contact me at funkeecanvas@hotmail.co.uk
It's based on this, "South Australia" or "Rolling King", with the music arrangef for us by composer Adam Pleeth en.wikipedia.org/wiki/South_Australia_(song)
I thought it was based off of South Australia!! :D Wasn't sure if you'd discover a similar sea shanty or if you'd had an arrangement based off that. It sounds fantastic and the play looks wonderful. If the production ever goes on a UK tour please tell me (Northern Ireland).
Catherine Trieschmann's play is set in a school in a small Kansas town that's been ripped apart by a tornado. A science teacher, newly arrived from Manhattan, gets into a storm of her own when she dismisses non-scientific theories about how life on Earth began as "gobbledygook". We spoke to audience members after an early performance.
