There have been some excellent portrayals of Lincoln over the years from such as Gregory Peck and Hal Holbrook. BUT Daniel Day Lewis was the greatest of all
Grant saved the Union several tiems over. The post-war Confederates early on attempted to erect their corrupt nightmarish ordee but Grant stopped them for the Republic. Not until 1898 did the Confederates get their first terrorist win
😡 How dare you. The Irish potato famine was REAL, and millions of people died because they couldn't get their daily allotment of fifteen potatoes! Potatoes were their LIFE and that's all they had to eat, night and day, was POTATOES! WITHOUT THEM? Millions of red-headed Irish folks simply shriveled up and died with no understanding of anything other than their next potato fix... MASS, GRAVES. Boo hoo. 🙄 They put it into American text books. THAT'S how stupid Jewels is. The only SAD part about it is most American students ALSO bought it, and grew up believing the Irish worshipped potatoes, and it was their only hope for survival in the 1850s. Soo, after I say a prayer to the great Potato God, I'm going to bake a potato, garnish it with potato wedges, sprinkle a few Irish fries top, and thank GOD for being American, where we can accomplish so much more than those silly Irish, who live in mud huts, and poison their own potato crops and die by the millions .. 😭😭😭 GOD, IT'S SO SAD!! 😭 GOD BLESS AMERICA! I'M SO LUCKY! 😭
And let's be very clear alot of these soldiers didn't die from fighting to free enslaved people that shouldn't been enslaved in the first place 🙄🙄 alot of died from diarrhea which was very common in those times
It was good for white Americans to experience a little of what they wreaked on the native population and their African slaves. Unfortunately they quickly forgot their lesson.
These were men. When you wonder about makes from the last 30 years, this is what you study. When you need help raising your sons? This is what you study. When you wonder what a Patriot looks like? This is what you mimic.
And now at 2024 all this talk of a Civil War 2.0, THEY have no idea what they would be inviting. Rape Murder Torture on a scale never before seen. Just look at how American's treat each other of the roads or the serial killers..all those psychos still hiding getting an excuse to do the awful things they fantasize about..Gettysburg will look like a Summer's morning walk in the park. The streets will run with blood...bodies will be piled so high rotting in the sun light because we will have no were to put them. The suffering will be like nothing we have seen. And our enemies...our TRUE enemies will take advantage of this and either invade or make it worse by other means...the Cartels will move from the south. Hell even Canada might invade with the excuse of peace keeping.
it’s interesting to me that Lee and Grant wouldn’t at least have dialogue.. because didn’t they actually know each other fairly well and even went to school together??
They did, Lee got there half an hour early. He was sitting there waiting for Grant. Grant then came in and they exchanged conversation for quite a bit before writing terms. Also the days before they had been passing correspondence through couriers. This a movie, they can't show everything.
With the benefit of hindsight... Lincoln's desire that the Confederates not be charged with treason... was a mistake. Maybe we wouldn't be where we are today... if the traitors had been held accountable back then.
I look at this in July, 2024, and I feel things that I cannot name or understand. When did we bury grace, and gentleness, and honor, and mercy? And why would we? I honestly don't know how to say it, though I'm not usually at a loss for words. Maybe this: When did it slip away; where now is the glory and the dream?
