Dr. McGuire is amazing! This is the best webinar I have listened to in a long time. I a tenured associate professor. I wish I had known this information when I was an undergraduate student. But I am motivated to teach these strategies to my students.
You all did a beautiful job gaining her trust! She is a beautiful creature and will have a great life because you cared enough to NOT look the other way. God Bless you! Happy and proud to play a small role in the rescue of Luna!
We do quite a bit of embedding tutoring in our department (in a larger Learning Commons in a community college). This is a program that has grown over the past decade and has gone from maybe 10 sections per year to 300+. We do it for various courses in many different disciplines, for online and in-person classes, etc. We do have two types of embeddings: we embed tutors in classrooms and Blackboard course shells where they work in a similar model to that presented in this video (attend class, assist students in class, see students outside of class) and we also embed tutors only in course shells in Blackboard, where they introduce themselves, do a virtual or in-person "class visit," and then work with students outside of class (this works well for asynchronous and synchronous online classes when tutors cannot make it to class). Yes, scheduling is quite a puzzle, and keeping up staffing is always difficult, but this data bears out and its the best use of our budget money. What we have noticed most is that course grades rise when students are in proximity to a tutor, when tutoring is brought to them, is convenient, etc. These students also visit tutoring for other classes, attend more of our SI sessions, etc. too. For classes with high DFW rates, more students pass that were borderline. Faculty recommend tutors and love working with us on this--they are furthering their students' careers and receiving much-needed help.
Thanks for sharing that with us. That's a large program with 300+ sections. Perhaps your or someone at your institution would want to talk about your experience in a future keynote webinar?
@@EngineericaSystems I would love to present on this subject for a future webinar! Based on the interest in the first webinar on embedded tutors, and the questions the audience asked, I believe we could further the conversation and provide a roadmap for other programs. Is there an email address I can use to contact you?
NOTE: This video does not show the latest methods of recording attendance: (1) Student reading a QR code with their smart device, and (2) Student self sign-in on their devices, which is activated via a beacon signal.
Hello David, Thanks for this video. I have full backup of my database. When I am trying to restore the database then, it is going into restoring state. I have selected Restore with Recovery option and have only one backup. Why it is showing this error message?

First, thank you for the compliments! You may need to lower the quality of the video playback if you have a slower internet connection. In the lower right of the video in the video control section you can click on the gear icon and set it to any quality from 240p to 720p(HD). Although I recommend viewing them in at least 480p(SD).
