when learning physics, i remember thinking it would theoretically be possible to move a car using one of those little DC motors you find in toys. i'm not sure i ever learned that it couldn't be done 🤔 really cool project!
Theoretically, it could be done if there were no friction or limitations in material strength. However, the axles eventually become too weak to rotate, which is why I had to use multiple axles. I'm still experimenting and exploring better methods and more efficient configurations-there might even be a way to achieve it using these plastic bricks.
The reason you can't grind everything and it is because you did it wrong. Those gears should not be lined up.They should be alternating one in between the other and overlapping just by the length of the tooth
Holy shit. That’s impressive af. I remember trying to making contraptions with those as a kid and also gave up cos they weren’t powerful enough. Wish I had seen this back then 😅
@@JamesTDG That's a great question. As we add more gears, the lever becomes harder to move, and the small LEGO motors likely won't be able to handle it. However, I can use my powerful drill to test the system's limits. While the system may break, it is worth exploring
@@fmscientia its not a question of 'it may breake' .. its guaranteed to fail... ..as u metion a very well balanced system as a car engine will not handle 7500+ rpm well for long periods... ...but its a greate way of learning... keep experimenting... just remeber sefety of urself and others.. a tip: use bearings with small radius and small balls that r rated for high speeds (SKF Sweden does excellent bearings)... just remeber at high speed an exploading bearing has a kinetik energy thats is very very large... be safe...
@@fmscientia ..composite material or ceramic bearings ar well suited for high speed 40000 rpm+ as thay have a very low weight but still hard or harder than steel .. but yes thay cost... Silicon Nitride ...
i'm late to the party but what sets do I have to buy to build lego machines like this, i saw most clips have only grey pieces, but i can't find anything like that in the lego store., I subbed :D
