My name is Shoua. Pronounce “Shoo-wah” I’m from Minnesota. I’ve been practicing martial arts for nearly 17 years. I’m here to share with you what I know, what I do and what I teach. Please LIKE and SUBSCRIBE for more videos. Thank you.
Ah, a worthy opponent! I think ill email you a sparring waiver and shout "SIGN THE WAIVER!!!!!" (Ps, that was a parody of black rhino!) Keep up the good work!
hey thanks for sharing. you have competition experience, how do you feel about JKD based on your fights? are you more aggressive? what do you think of interceptions? how do you feel about the straight lead? JKD considers it the holy grail of punches do you fight with strong side forward? and lastly, any criticisms of JKD?
when i didn't know jkd, my footwork was very bad, I've actually become more relaxed, The interception is hard to explain on paper, but you have to see it to understand it. I do fight with my strong side forward, and lastly, if you want to know if you are applying it correctly, you have to sparr people who are not JKD fighters. Thats the only way to improve your jkd. If you don't apply it in a real fight then you're only dryland swimming.
Here’s the thing I don’t understand about this whole ridiculous, and childish bickering over JKD, JKD lineage, “original JKD” and “JKD Concepts” bullshit that’s been going on since the 80’s. How can we have Sijo Bruce speaking out against dogmatic adherence to the way things used to be done, “Styles tends to not only separate man, you know because they have their own doctrines, and then the doctrine became the gospel truth. You know. That cannot change, you know.”, and then have this idea of “Original JKD is the real JKD because it’s exactly the techniques he taught!” as valid? I’m not even saying that “JKD Concepts” is what Sijo Bruce would have done or wanted, but he definitely would not have been on board with his curriculum from nearly 60 years ago being held up as the “right” or “only” way to do JKD. Personally the other thing I find interesting, is that the “OJKD” camp is always the one desperate to be seen as legitimate, and constantly trying to tear the “JKDC” side down. I don’t get it. I know human beings are inherently tribal, and othering is an evolutionary adaptation for survival, but this is ridiculous. In my opinion, and I am no expert, but Jun Fan Gung Fu is the physical techniques Sijo Bruce taught, and modified, and would have continued to modify, had he lived. Jeet Kune Do is his philosophical approach and expression of combat.
he is airborne and making contact with the kicking foot at the point of landing. he also is twisting the body and hip away and straightening the leg/ body into one line when making contact! Nice video!!
Dan Inosanto is one of the big gest frau dst ers in martial arts. His "as many arts as possible" (his words). Was designed to keep students coming in paying him money. Sc s ammer.
Keep in mind that towards the end of his life Bruce was doing prolific amounts of cocaine and experiencing all the behaviors of it. So the idea that he could have changed "3rd" to "third" and forgotten to sign a certificate would not be without doubt.
You have a picture originally of JKD Concepts with Octavio demonstrating. He is a Jerry Poteet student, great instructor and certainly NOT a concepts guy. If you seen him in person or in my case he is my coach, he is not in the anytime goes concepts camp.
Hi. I also train Ted Wong JKD in Korea(from a disciple of Patrick Chan certified from Wong) and have a question about kick. So I've learnt when you sidekick, hook-kick, roundkick you have to jump and when you land down you stretch your bent leg and kick at the right timing. But in the video you land your supporting leg first and then kick separately. Could you please explain about this further?
yes, that is a thrust kick moving forward, I believe is what you're talking about. I'm only showing the Pegulium kick, not the kick you're talking about. The thrust kick is a little more advanced for beginners.
It’s all Bull, yes receiving a certification from Bruce Lee is very honorable however the future followed suit . After Dan started certifying hundreds of Jeet Kune do students became something of what I believe Bruce Lee would not wanted. It became a money maker business thing. I don’t think Linda would agree how Dan followed Bruce Lee’s legacy. What I personally believe is if you study and practice diligently, knowing that you worked hard, and acquired the knowledge then you don’t need the paper. Beginning a business, having a certificate given by Dan or Ted means the second Lineage handed you a piece of paper.
Also its been pointed out in the past that the actual word "Instructor" does not appear on ANY certificate awarded by Bruce Lee . They were all student ranks.
Ted Wong was the top guy in the authentic teachings of Bruce Lee's Jeet Kune Do. This is my school in the New York City area "New York Martial Arts Academy" and it's RU-vid channel: www.youtube.com/@NYMartialArtsAcademy. Dino Orfanos is the main instructor along his son James Orfanos. Dino is certified by both Sifu Ted Wong and Sifu Chris Kent (certified by Dan Inosanto).
ALL CERTIFICATIONS HAVE YOUR FULL NAME IN KOREA / JAPAN/ CHINA / THAI=== DAN DID HIS CERTIFICATION TO PUSH JEET KUNE DO BUT JEET KUNE DO IS NOT FINISH BRUCE PASTAWAY == 3 STYLE IN J. K. D. LITTLE WING CHUN AND BOXING -and-VERY VERY LITTLE GRAPPLING -- BUT I THINK BRUCE WANTED PEOPLE TO ADD TO IT.!!!! I DO TAE KWON DO & HAP KI DO and ADDED JEET KUNE and CHAN MUAY THAIBOXING.... AKA FINISH IT.......
I feel that JKD has become corporate and comercialised and cut and pasted and stylelised, with so many masters ,grand masters and sifus and of course experts who have never sparred or had a fight in their lives and just chasing glory by goal hanging around with the self made personality politics of JKD, waiting for that score of approval with name dropping ,having pod casts and doing videos of jkd just by talking, and making what bruce lee said over rated in the proccess. i have never had a jkd lesson, but i get what bruce lee was getting at in his philosephy and his teaching , i have done realistic and no nonsence styles over the years and wouldnt fight on the street as i would in the gym and i aint no expert. the only ones who knew bruce lee was those who trained with him and i guess alot of his teaching has got lost over the years and arguments i have seen which jkd is the best jkd concepts or theory.and feel that all this certicates have become bullshit at most.the real people who know what JKD is are the ones that was trained by bruce lee and they learned by doing and it isnt these clowns from evolution JKD. With alot of respect i think alot of hard styles can have alot going for them with a realistic and no nonsence approach to martial arts and a full combat sports also if you keep the product and change the rules an introduce ilegal moves with for example head buttts elbows and knees and arm bars chokes and holds amongst others, and dont fight on the streets as you would in a gym and then you could come out worse off. although i have found alot of instructors or teachers and people of styles dont see the difference between fantasy and reality,
I Enjoy Sifu Ted Wong very much. He did a great video with my teacher Sigung Richard Bustillo called the Bruce Lee's Fighting Method. There's also a great book by the same name. check out Bruce Lee's new book by John Little called Wrath of the dragon I'm not sure if you heard about it, but i finally shuts up people who claim our teachers, teacher Bruce Lee wasn't a real fighter. Not only was bRuce Lee a real fighter, but he defeated pro boxers & karate champions in his day like they were kids and they wee nothing, But you guys please understand Bruce Lee used to have a rule at the chinatown school was we're all JKD Brothers you all must get along like it or not. We should all follow that rule now weather you like Ted Wong or Dan Inosanto or Bob Bremer or Richard Bustillo. They didn't fight each other so why should we. Sifu Ted Wong & Sifu Richard Bustillo Did great things together! I like them And I never met Sigung Ted Wong, but Sigung Richard gave me rank in The IMD academy ofJun Fan Jeet Kune Do. I Have two certificates from him. I Miss him very, very much! I was heartbroken when he died!
Ted Wong taught real effective JKD. But Dan Inosanto is one of the big gest frau dst ers in martial arts. His "as many arts as possible" (his words). Was designed to keep students coming in paying him money. Sc s ammer.
It's best don't try to stop the fight; just stay back far away and watch them fight. If you try to stop the fight, sometimes they will hit you. Those guys that are trying to stop the fight don't know how dangerous they got themselves into getting serious hurt. Please don't encourage people to try to stop the fight and teach them to stay away from the fight. Most of the time, people try to stop the fight got hurt, not the people that are fighting.

I see in most events the guys got into a fight the lady and friends always there trying to stop the fight and then got into the fight themselves. Lady please if you don't want to fight and your man are in a fight go wait at the cars. Don't try to stop him, you might get hurt or you might need to get into the fight yourself. Second guys, if your friend is in a fight, either you join the fight with him or take your women and go wait in the cars. Stop trying to stop the fight and then get into the fight yourself, too.
