i live in duluth mn, i enjoy hotrods, old trucks, bikes, gocarts, weird things with engines, and my father has a military vehicle collection, i dabble in autobody, mechanical stuff, and redneck rocket sience
I bought two of these last year the first is just going together now all is painted and assembled except the hood and fender seat pan Mine have a black dash with white steering wheels I believe that makes them one year older. They are both missing ID tags
Cool truck man, it's crazy to me how snobby these mopar guys are. You took a truck that topped out at 50mph with 45hp and made it actually usable and fun. All these guys call it a shit box from behind their computers. If you don't like how he built it, go build your own.
Well... my son has a '41 that went 50 mph originally. BUT he put a stroked 440 Big Block Dodge in it. So there's that. I just don't understand why one would put a Chevy in a Dodge? Or a Chevy in a Ford? Other than the fact they are cheap and plentiful.
GREAT truck till you see it has a BBC in it, it's basically been raped at that point... ALWAYS put a Mopar drive train in a Mopar ! Vehicle make and drive train should always be the MATCH. This truck should have had a HEMI ! 1st, 2nd or 3rd Gen HEMI would have been PERFECT... Awesome truck though.
Great truck, crappie motor, Must have been a low budget build so little money left went to a junk GM crate motor i guess. My choice of motor would have been a 4BT Cummins w/ eaton 5sp- 205 NP case and finished with custom dana 70F and rear dana 70 w/ power lock units and 4.10 on 40" tires
We purchased a cottage a few years ago, and one of these mowers came with it. It is identical, except ours has the fully round steering wheel, and has an 8HP Briggs and Stratton engine. Most of the identifying marks (serial number, etc.) are worn off, but the mower still starts (cold-blooded - but starts) and runs brilliantly. It has 3 speeds, plus reverse, and it has more power than most 24HP mowers that I've operated. If you start it in 3rd gear, it will almost pop a wheelie, it has that much power. Blades are still sharp, and only one of the rear tires is problematic - a bit of warping over the years, but treads are still good. It will lose air in a matter of a few weeks. I almost hate to put new tires on the thing because it is all original. Initial starting gear is a bit sketchy also... has that initial grinding. Our cottage is on 1.6 acres, and I've cut more than 30 times with this old mower, and it still does what it was designed to do over 50 years ago. What a machine!
Drove a 2000 Lumina from Ft. Lauderdale back to Boston. 86 MPH most of the way. The engine is quiet, ac cold, and the back seat is big enough to curl up in for a power nap. It's the nicest riding car I've ever owned. Not much to look at, but who gives a shit?
I would have liked to seen how he got out of it. For some reason the camera operator decided the exact moment he started to get out was the time to show us the nose.
When I was in vo-tech there was a donated Jeep with a 318 with bad rods. we drained the oil and put in 5 qts. water. it started shooting flames from the carb and set the air filter on fire. removed the filter and re-started. it ran for a total of 20 min. shooting flames from the carb the whole time. at 20 min. it let out a very loud screech and froze up solid.
All of a sudden, someone darts ---->got camera shy. Hmmm, Dodge with a Chevy.... All wrong...do it over. Keep the motor and the tires, give me the truck shell. Flat bed on the way.
