Bellissima. Bellissima. Forgotten. Dieter Klöcker (1936- 2011) clarinetist known for rediscovering many forgotten composers of the 18th century, for example, Cartellieri. In 1795, the premiere of the Cartellieri symphony in C minor, oratorio "Gioas re di Giuda" was held in the Burgtheater in Vienna. During the break, Beethoven's Piano Concerto no. 2; it was the first Beethoven work performed in public in Vienna. Lobkovitz, who was so impressed by Kartellieri's symphony in C minor that he offered him the position of chief composer at court (he did not offer Beethoven).
Thank you very much for your comment! Unfortunately, Cartellieri's work has many restrictions due to the ambition of record companies and publishers. They are the calamity in Art. Cartellieri was a great composer. I have a huge amount of his works that I cannot publish because they are immediately blocked.
What a genius he was to incorporate "Eternal Father, Strong To Save," the great old hymn of the navy into this masterpiece. We go from a quiet departure from port into the open, mysterious ocean where we see so many evidences of God's created creatures there. Then a mysterious quiet breaks forth, followed by a gradually accelerating storm that partly damages the ship and injures some sailors. But by hard work we see order restored, the course maintained, and the eventual destination come into sight. There is great revelry and thanks to God, who is the mariners' Friend as they land safely in port. What an allegory for life! What a marvelous expression of man's fear, inability, determination and Providential guidance for us in life. Excellent piece of music!
As someone new to classical music, I find I can only enjoy compositions from the Baroque and Classical periods. Everything else feels either painfully boring or as grating as nails on a chalkboard. Over the last two years, I've tried exposing myself to the more intense, arrhythmic, introspective works that followed those periods, but without success. So, unfortunately, this concert is a big no-no for me 🙈🙈🙈...I apologize for my lack of appreciation- I genuinely wish I could enjoy a wider range of classical music (mentioning it just in case it might explain why there aren't many views/comments)
Very beautiful and calming. Accessible pleasing. Great flute playing. Almost reminds me of Griffes Poem for flute and orchestra . That sort of feeling and sound.
Ridiculously Great ! Ridiculously Ignored. Thats Ridiculously Wrong ! This is fantastic wonderful. I only hear of him and this concerto 8/30/2024 age 70 years !
A beautiful violin sonata more akin to Frank and Faure rather than Debussy and Ravel. Unequivocally French through and through. Actually a magnificent work. And obviously a Man of Courage and Principles. I first heard this sonata 25 years and fell in love with it. I still love today and understand it even better. This is a gem that should be played in concert halls. This is a real good performance and a nice balanced recording. Thanking you So much for this !
Always a great piece by a superb composer. There are so many different versions out there to enjoy but what strikes me here is the fact that I'm listening to a harpsichord being played along with what what sounds to me a very large church organ with the "strings" setting switched on. I love the strings composition here. I don't know anything. I am mortal but if it is a full size church pipe organ playing the strings it's so shrewd, brilliant etc
On St Valentine's Day a couple of years ago, I had a request played on a BBC Radio3 programme for 'La Nuit et L'Amour'. I have noticed that since then Radio 3 has played it a few times and Classic FM has also latched onto it. This year, it featured in the BBC Proms, along with some music for voice and piano by Augusta Holmes. It goes to show that music that has fallen into obscurity is quite capable of appealing to the public today if only it can get a hearing.
But Augusta Holmes' work is also of excellent quality. She deserves to be among the great composers in the Concerts. Thank you very much for your comment!!!
Very charming piece: the flute plays hide-and-seek with the organ. Many light-hearted Imitations of lucky birds both in flute and organ create a pieceful morning-mood of a new day: i like it very much. There is no touch of "Ernste Musik" - so this kind of music and constellation of flute and organ has its own right to exist.
Very elegant music - beautifully performed . Giovanni Battista Costanzi, whom André Grétry considered to be one of the most popular composers of church music in Rome - although he was one of the most prolific composers of the 18th century, only a small part of his oeuvre, including one opera, has survived. Also known as teacher of Luigi Boccherini.
Gloria Coates was an American composer. She was born in 1933 in the USA and has lived in Munich since 1969, where she died in 2023. Her work is very extensive and interesting. She was multi-talented, she also painted pictures. This music can also be the horror of war. It's my assumption. We all want to live in peace.
Excelente y nunca bien ponderado compositor .
Certainly. Regarding the composers' images, I decided a long time ago not to do this anymore. Google is imprecise and it shows faces (which I obviously don't know) which leads to errors. Thank you very much for your message.
Hello, friend! How are you? Sorry for the delay in my reply. My computer broke down. I don't buy computers very often. Actually, when the computer works well for my music work, I use it for many years. Exactly that happened. My old computer belonged to the dinosaur kingdom. Finally it ran out of sound and I decided to buy a new one. But all the programs I have now are obsolete. I have to buy new programs. When I get what I need, I will make new posts again. My best regards to you.
@@RobertoPintos Dear Roberto, how wonderful to hear from you. I too have just bought a new computer and almost lost over 15,000 pieces of music I was unable to transfer from my old one!!. I had to pay a specialist computer expert to do it. It took him over a week! This is indeed a strange coincidence that we have both had the same problem. I do hope you can get it fixed, so don't give up. Take good care. I look forward to hearing from you again soon. Best regards from London. David A
@@DavidA-ps1qr : Dear David. What a curious coincidence. Fortunately I have all my files saved on different devices. Just for scores and parts, which come from my own works and also many other works I did for different theaters, I have more than 300,000 files. It would be horrible (and very expensive) to have to recover that amount due to some technical problem. I had a situation similar to what happened to you. One time my computer for internet was infected with a terrible virus. On that computer I also had about 15,000 files and the technician spent a week trying to recover them. I always have two computers. The main one is large and has a lot of resources, I use it for my work and it doesn't have internet. The only internet connection with that computer happens the day I buy it. I update it and do everything necessary online. After that, I never connect to the web with it again. I got an expert technician who is also an importer. Very good price. And he assembled the computer in just a few hours. I'm working with it from day one, with the main programs I need, but I still have to get the new versions of many others. That will take some time. We'll keep in touch, my friend! Best wishes to you.
