The singers Jan Kiepura and Marta Eggerth were a musical dream couple and superstars in the early days of recorded sound and music film. Their son, Marjan Kiepura, and his wife Jane Knox-Kiepura share their artistic and musical heritage in their podcast series. Since the launch of his successful Chopin CD entitled, Images of a Homeland, pianist Marjan Kiepura has a significant RU-vid following. He has given concerts and presentations in the U.S. and Europe of Frederic Chopin’s works. His own Polish ancestry has made Chopin a favorite choice of repertoire and topic of podcast series
Beautiful and touching song. I heard it first time in "Zauber der Boheme" of 1937. Jan Kiepura starts singing it at the 27:37 offset here: ru-vid.com/video/%D0%B2%D0%B8%D0%B4%D0%B5%D0%BE-2izJUPOzf6M.html
@@PatriaProductions I am looking for a classical song that sounds like a counter melody to Brahm’s Lullaby. It played on my radio many years ago after my cat died and I cried my eyes out! I cannot find it anywhere!
As a matter of fact, I do love any interpretation by Marjan Kiepura of any Chopin's piece, it provides me with some important models for my "poor" playing !
Beautiful and unique interpretation. Thank you for the explanation, I learned more about this prelude than ever before and I’ve been listening and playing it for years.
Thank you so much. Very happy it was of service to you. I am happy to answer any questions. The Raindrop is a real masterpiece and I never get tired of practicing and performing it. Best wishes, Marjan
Caro maestro. Suona in modo divino. Grazie per questo omaggio. Che Dio la benedica per la maestria con il quale sfiora la tastiera. Un abbraccio 😮😮😮😮❤❤❤❤❤❤❤❤
Well, this is really playing Chopin. I would appreciate very much if someone can give me advice on which edition of Music Sheets I should buy (for Chopin's Mazurka)!
There are two editions that are always good to buy: the Paderewski edition and the Henle edition. Comparing the two, the Paderewski shows more fingering. The Henle binding is more sturdy and will last a long time. The Paderewski is very useful if you are learning new mazurkas. However, fingering should be used as suggestions only. You don't need to follow exactly the fingering if something is not comfortable.
Thanks for posting when my father was a boy he mentioned him a lifelong memory. Your Dad was and is one of the greatest tenors the world has known. So handsome and a voice like no other. Bravo 👏 I spoke to you once is your Mum still alive? I loved her also
I enjoy the way you introduce this prelude and your pace! Share with you one of my favorites ru-vid.com/video/%D0%B2%D0%B8%D0%B4%D0%B5%D0%BE-CEKKe4pRTeA.htmlsi=PCWCXG7wuybx_DQW
I keep coming back , returning again and again to this video for the wonderful phrasing and interpretation of this waltz. First, when I started learning it, and now that I’m perfecting it. Especially love the staccato in the second turn of the 3rd movement (bars 97-104). Thanks for the inspiration!
Thank you very much for your comment! Your observation is correct, that second turn contains staccato. I believe repeats should be played differently. Very happy that you are putting finishing touches on your own performance of this wonderful waltz. Actually, it's not that often performed but audiences love it. It is always a success when I perform it. And it will be successful for you too. My best wishes, Marjan
Thanks and happy my explanations were useful. I did cover tempo possibilities in my narrative from 8:00 minutes to 10:00. I took the pace that is right for me. But I also offered suggestions on different tempi which are fully acceptable when performing this piece. I even encouraged playing it slower and gave examples. I would recommend recording yourself on an iPhone or other device to see where you want to be in your own performances. And happy to answer any other questions you may have.
