Thank you supervisor Pedroza. I’m glad that you spoke out on those of us who were not allowed the opportunity to speak. I personally feel that we were blindsided. I believe that resort has a small footprint and a world of potential.
Our Gov. screwed the Berryessa Valley & Monticello residents first. But don't worry. After a time, when the economy collapses completely, they won't be able to maintain the care of the dam. Someday, the Walls will come Tumblin down!!! Nature will kick butt!!!!
we had a place at rancho for yrs. Such a great way to grow up. Its a tragedy that the Feds threw out everyone and no one is ever there till this days.. the government f'ed up again, made a lot of ppl homeless.. SHAME ON THEM and that new Fed office the put out there is joke... The guy I spoke to was completely clueless about the homes that use to be on the Lake smh
Still empty at the Lake. Nice plan to rebuild. All Government So called planning complete Joke. I bet that clown from the BLM Is long gone Way to go not only screwing those people but also generations down the road Genius
In the 90’s I watched a report about the town of Monticello & wrote a song about it. I’d like to share it with Murray, Carol & the folks at the Monticello Museum. At the time of the recording I hadn’t quite finished the lyrics but have them completed for you here. ru-vid.com/video/%D0%B2%D0%B8%D0%B4%D0%B5%D0%BE-qmJPPDCNIOY.html Monticello Lived here long ago Now nobody’s home Broken bottle by the shore Years have come & gone Flowers grow no more Fields of green to wash away Now I’m nursing on my broken heart Your memory will fade in time I wonder if I'd been there Another voice could save “Monticello" Love is a vagabond Buried in a frown Lost your head searching to blame One more time to shine Goodbye five and dime One last stroll down yesterday Now I’m nursing on my broken heart Your memory will fade in time I wonder if I'd been there Another voice could save “Monticello" The sun still rises & your head’s still on my pillow It means everything to me All I’d hope to be was left in Monticello Don’t you take it all from me Monticello, don’t drift away
I legit thought that the Splashdown game was complete fiction, I mean yeah they couldn’t do double decker tracks with huge jumps IRL but this is pretty amazing.
I've been told our family was once the largest private land holder in Monticello. Until imminent domain stole all of it from us for $1 an acre. Great grandpa hung himself because of it.
I cannot, for the life of me, figure out what all the different colors in the water flow mean or represent. Is there a website that explains it in detail
The government can come in and steal your land now the land taking back the government supposed to reap what you sow your lights are going to dry up it's called seed planting Harvest you planted the seed and and now the government's going to reap what it did your lake is going to dry up
No - never. No private ownership. They may allow annual usage sites with one year contracts with two one year extensions, but no more than 6 months occupancy in a year and not in the same unit.
Thank you for this Peter. I'm interested in knowing if the dam has an elevated risk of failure now because of the recent wildfires around the lake. Hoping the soils don't slip when the rains come.
And if anyone reading remembers The Blanco's I am saying hello! The Lindseys, The Putnams, the Crittendens, the Parsons, the Greens, the Waverly's, and anyone else who was there! Thanks for the memories!!!
I am a member of one of those families back in the lake 50's and through the sixties and my fondest memories are from my days there. It's so very sad. My father hauled a backhoe and some other heavy equipment up there with a friend and our place was close to where the damn and glory hole are. Marley Cove was the name and my dad and his friend made the roads in where the trailers were a lot easier to travel. It's a crying sad sorry shame.
Thanks for the comment, Tracy, There's much more history of the Berryessa Valley on my web site at www.lakeberryessanews.com/.Scroll to the bottom of the main page for more. Click on the Photos & Videos button. I am also writing a book about the saga. A draft version is available for download at: www.lakeberryessanews.com/what-happened-at-lake-berry/0-berryessa-book-draft.pdf
@@PeterKilkus I'm in the process of reading your book Peter. I moved to the Bay Area from Scotland about 6 years ago and got back into boating 4 years ago (we have plenty of water in scotland... plenty of rain and wind too) when i saw lake berryessa on an Arc GIS map while planning fiber optic routes... as a political scientist by education it is fascinating to learn the history of how the lake and its access developed. By the way your recent local reporting on the fires at Berryessa was exceptional and I followed with great interest. I lost my boat at 5100 Knoxville road (Arco's, everything insured don't worry) in the Hennessey Fire but I look forward to returning, hopefully next year, to a lake region looking to rebuild, and I welcome with excitement any possible return of holiday development in the region.

I don't know why I labeled them the dog logs when in reality they were the bercy logs. For now on I will refer to them as bercy logs. This is the only kind of racing I feel is valid for spectators, A raging party with ear-splitting music and showgirls is what i want, All on standups, no couches allowed,, i want this kind of event every Friday night in Pahrump with equal standups and gambling on the results both online and local with kiosk gambling machines like in japan. Identical trak jet skis with normal jet ski pto's which get incredible mileage, and our bulletproof and they run very clean!
Cool video! I have a question however, it seems Davis and the Vacaville area are on Higher Ground then the area is towards Esparto and Woodland, I would think the water would travel that way first. Is this incorrect?
Correct. Also the Putah Creek canal redirects water through Solano county. Therefore, water flows towards Dixon and Vacaville as well. The northern bank is also historically higher than the souther bank. Before the dam was built flood water always flooded south of the creek, hence Winters was built on the northern bank.
It is now, down to about 300,000 from 1.5 million per year. Dirt camping only. A whole generation of family recreation lost. See the true story at www.lakeberryessanews.com
Increase the water supply to quadruple agricultural production in Solano County. Napa was against it, but lost. Napa also gave away all water rights to any Lake Berryessa water. Explore the history at www.lakeberryessanews.com/photo-album/berryessa-valley-history/
Appropriate title. BOR destroyed that lake, the fun family times are long gone. Now instead of public use it is public abuse. What was once a great blue collar worker playground will eventually be only frequented by the rich and famous. Such a shame.
That's the plan for all the lakes, rivers, and land outside of cities. Ever heard of iclei? Well look up Rosa Koire and she'll tell you all about it. Or read her book: Behind the Green Mask.
