great lesson (again)! I only discovered this tune yesterday(!) and was keen to learn it. Someone said that it "Gave Link Wray a run for his money" and it Does sound like it's from Link territory. Magic!
👍Hi MAN. I stopped making comments here...but in this case i have to. because: YOU ARE REALLY THE BEST TEACHER in this whole wide fucking web for this kind of music and all the hidden great music around, witch the most people don`t know even. the most stuff it`s that sound witch i grew up with (my first concert 77 was The Clash. But something i missed...and than came PSYCHOBILLY: "The missing link" between RockaBilly-Roll, Punk and .... In my opinion the Cramps are the real and first and only KINGS OF PSYCHO (got the luck to "sad"-saw them with the breathless Lux, a short time before his death). And the one and only The Meteors of course. who show us the bad side...and not only of Psychobilly.... so. I THANK YOU !!! I even can imagine how much time and work it cst to do all youre GREAT LESSONS "mi amigo" g from germany and now my old rotting, rocking 🦴 try to learn a little bit from you 🧟♂🤠
Years ago I always thought that last section of this song was the coolest, overlooked rocking guitar. I've watched the run through by Luca which is great! Took some research to figure the tuning. Years ago I heard that Ricky Wilson played a baritone guitar. Not sure if that's true or what it is. Anyway you're video is very educational and most of all fun. Cool stuff. Good job. Thanks
An acoustic always bring new inspiration. I've never heard of Sigma guitars. I got a Yamaha FG830 Dreadnought a year ago and its next to my desk so I can pick it up and play for a few min when inspiration hits while I am working. I pretty much only play my Gretsch and use my amp on the weekends. That 000 has a wonderful sound. I don't know enough to know why to get one type of acoustic over another. But what I can tell from this video is a 000 definitely has a more vintage folk Woody Gutherie tone.
I have a 000 17...id say the triple ought...category...is the ONLY one I'd say, just get a Pennsylvania Martin I have a Larrivee D03 and it's great too...but the Martin smell, the playability...I mean it plays as effortlessly as a Casio keyboard...I don't have another acoustic on that level Here's why I'm saying anything though Martin 000 17- $1500 ish Canadian Sigma 000 17- roughly $800 in Canada Id pay the extra for the quality and resale. It's not that much more for a lot more guitar..That Martin...even my x series Martin is better in some ways than my all solid guitars..
In the early 80s Martin collaborated with Takamine to manufacture guitars in Japan. They set up a factory and had Martins people and plans. Before completion, Takamine was sold to Kaman. Kaman was the parent company of Ovation, a major competitor of Martin at the time. Kaman killed the deal with Martin allowing Takamine to move forward with production of Martin clones under their own name. Those guitars were of astonishing quality and value. They even copied the Martin style logo for a time. I was a Takamine dealer in those days and still have a dozen in my collection. Martin soon after released the Sigma line. I didn’t sell them but I have played several and they are very nice indeed.
As far as I can remember there is a connection between Sigma and Martin guitars. I think it might have been one of the luthiers from Martin set up Sigma guitars
Sigma makes great guitars. I have a Martin D-18 and a Gibson J-35 and I miss my Sigma, all solid wood, SDM-ST. The new Sigma logo is ugly, I miss their Martin look-alike logo
For what this comment is worth to anyone : I use flatwounds all the time on all my electric guitars (Guild Manhattans, Gretsch Setzer Hot Rod, Strats, Teles, Yamaha SA800s and a few others), but I always use a Plain G string. I prefer D'Addario Flats over Thomastics but there other makes of Flatwounds "if" you can find them; Ernie Ball & GHS, but I will admit that Flat Wound strings in general are very expensive by comparison. I also use my own gauge preferences, which are quite light, 009-044, and therefore I buy my strings in multiple singles at a time. Experimentation and Expense are the two key bywords.
