Super helpful, thanks! I was wondering two things. First, would this cause issues due to rounding inconsistencies? I'm getting numbers that are slightly off, like an hour or so. But, it may be due to my second thing: I have some null values for completed times (open tickets), and I think this may be affecting the calc since it won't.. .consider those days, I think? Still trying to figure out exactly what's wrong. I've been considering using minutes instead of hours to have a more generic "time elapsed" thing (my thinking is that this would help with rounding inconsistencies, though this may be incorrect) and then displaying as hours where needed. In addition to figuring out how to incorporate the nulls properly, of course. I'm PRETTY sure those are part of the problem.
Thanks for sharing the tip and the explanation. It saved me a lot of time trying to fix the name of source files ( instead I can just use "0" to refer to the first tab in the spreadsheet. Thanks a lot ! 🙂
What if I want to show the total sales of 2019 and total sales of 2017 seperately as two different visuals and a result table that gives me the difference between the two years. Any video available for this ?
Great session Alice, "glad" to see you encounter similar issues with Azuremap as I experience. I decided to take a positive approach on it from now, expecting it to improve rapidly, but at this stage it is definitely not yet fit for a forced introduction.
This is amazing but My column names changes in the list every month , so the visual in the power bi desktop is getting Fix this error. As u r selecting the column names again in the table after getting fix this error, do we have any dynamic thing where the visual gets automatically updated with the new column names from the list. It will be a problem for me to select all the columns manually in the visual every month as i have more than 300 columns. Please help me out to solve this
Hi! Matt, Thanks , this is great, I have on Sharepoint folder the files, so all working very well in PBI desktop, so, when pusblish this file, not refresh the dataset, dinamyc querys, I tried woth RelativePath (Chris Webb blog), but continue with no refresh. please can you help me
Hello, my main date table gives me a hierarchy ( year, quarter, month). However after creating the comparison table, the hierarchy switches from main date table to Comparison table. I want year, month ,quarter for comparing. But my main date table loses hierarchy after creating comparison table. Could you please help me out? Will be waiting to hear from you soon. Thanks
I tried this, it is working but the problem is when i filter the data from the year slicer then the data is filtering entire report which is correct but the when i filter anything in compare year slicer then the report is not filtering, here both the slicers should work when we filter anything. Please help.
It took me a long time to find the solution and luckily I found this lesson. Thank you for sharing, wish you a lot of luck in life. Hope to see many more useful posts. Grateful, grateful and grateful.
Thanks for the vedio. Can i please check, if you want to add a % change to the table ex: current year vs previous year, how would you go about eliminating the range of non existing perior of the current year, from the past period. Would that not be the true comparison? I.e. If its 2019 March, I would like to compare like for like - 2019 March vs 2016 March. You are currently (i assume in this video) comparing at 11:02min 2019 and 2016 - but 2019 is not yet finished so it is not like for like.
Hi, I do all the things like you guide in this video, but I do not know why at the semi-final step, in "FnProcessSheets" , error was appeared. All the sheets have the same format, no merge. Could you advise me?
Solution is nice, but it has one gap. When you have "select all" option in the second slicer and it is selected then the selection includes the year from the upper slices as well despite of not being showed in the second slicer. Is there a way to get rid off this behaviour?
Hello Matt. There is inconveniently high water at Echuca and I have seen a post from Morgan with a houseboater saying they won't be able to stay in their current mooring if the water increases more than another 500mm. Wondered if you had given any thought to feeding current data into your Excel file - with a view to the Big Bend situation of course. :-)
This is a great step-by-step video. Everything was working when applying to my data until the sheet names contained only numbers. The parameters work when the sheet is named "Ted" but stopped working when the sheet was named "1234". What needs to change for the parameter to work when the sheet name contains only numbers?
@@mattallington9455 Thank you for getting back to me. I played around with it some more and was able to figure it out. What I had to do was follow your steps up to the 6:17 mark of your video. When you click on the table of the Dec sheet. I then had to insert a step between your "filtered" rows step and the "Dec_Sheet" step. the inserted step was to change the "item" to Int64.Type. If I change the type before clicking on a table then it wouldn't recognize the sheet properly. That was my only hiccup. Thank you for your video, everything else worked beautifully and I was able to gather the data I needed.
@@bendreessen2809 yes, these auto added steps can be tricky. They’re not always obvious because you didn’t add them, but they are often the cause of issues. You can turn this off, but in my experience it’s easier to leave them on and keep an eye out for these when tracking down an issue.
I tried to follow and use this for calculating business hours, but I am getting error on line 7 (ThisStartTime>=BusHoursEnd,0). I am getting 0 for everything.
