The Goshin Budokan Dojo was first established in Puerto Rico on July of 1993. Its goal is to preserve and continue to teach the art of traditional and non-traditional Jiu-Jitsu. The Goshin Budokan Dojo does not restrict itself to teach ONLY Jujutsu, it also teaches Karate-Do, Judo, Taiho-Jitsu (Police Apprehension Techniques), Shiatsu (Japanese Finger Pressure Therapy), and Self Defense classes for adults.
Well done taking the decision to take up karate especially for a young woman, the benefits you will reap are never ending, I took up karate at University aged 19 that was 30 years because the guys kept trying in chap me up , I’d tell them to go away so would some would not, I realised I needed to learn to be more assertive, luckily a girl on my Nursing course was a karate black belt in Shotokan karate and invited me along to one of her classes, I’m now a karate black belt 3rd Dan and help run a dojo, incidentally my female karateka out number the men 4 to 1 many are Dan grades, as for your KIAI I used practice my KIAI whilst driving, no one can hear you lol, what belt are you now, I hope you continue and become a black belt and a Sensei , OSS...
Thank you so much. I am a young woman learning karate and I was embarrassed and worried about kiai. Now I have complete confidence about doing kias after watching this video many times. I just need to practice these. I think for women we are kind of taught be to quiet and my background is in ballet, jazz, hip hop, contemporary dancing etc which usually involve being quiet definitely not shouting. So it feels very different.
He was my instructor at the Broward Police Academy in 2000. We had to privilege of having him toss us around on a daily basis for 5 months. He was blazingly quick with his hands and his feet.
My question is how well can those types of subduing techniques be applied to a moving attacker throwing strikes? How easy would it be to apply those types of techniques to this attacking inmate? ru-vid.com/video/%D0%B2%D0%B8%D0%B4%D0%B5%D0%BE-oU36rGh12LQ.html
Lol u know he was heavy weight champion back in the day n I agree he doesn’t look fast but he trained the Broward Sheriffs office in self defense n I can tell u first hand he is lightning quick!
I am a shihan for 35 years, the first technique is not a basic hakkoryu move, maybe You dont know how to do the real technique, just use some aikido nikkyou.
That is not Hakkoryu he states that himself. The title refers to only 1 part of the video. He is teaching Taizan Ryu. But he is the official representative of Hakkoryu for Latin and Central America.
Sorry at 2:12 that is NOT a punch guys....that was SUPER choreographed . And it had a fake attack with frozen hand syndrome. That and the hakama no wonder people are confusing this with aikido !!!!
Not saying I could beat Joe Hess, but if I see I am up against someone that fat, my strategy is going to be to dodge and parry until he is worn out, which I don't think would take long. I actually believe that a fast guy with a bit of endurance could kill someone that heavy via heart attack in a few minutes. Just don't let the big 'un catch you early on when he still has energy combined with enormous strength.
Casey Vee, you must be young and incredibly naive. On his WORST day, Joe Hess would put you in the hospital, even at his age and weight now. You don't have a clue.
Joe Hess is a 'Beast' . Former Heavyweight champion, awesome teacher, trainer and practitioner. Ive done fight scenes with him, hes a great stuntman too. Learn to refer to our Martial Arts pioneers with dignity and respect. GROW UP KEYBOARD WARRIOR !
es un honor haber participado en una clase de demostracion por parte de soke bonilla por aqui en Denver es y ya estamos preparandonos para el tai kai 2014 !!!
I would have liked to see this done on the move, in real time. This is far too correographed. It's fine to hold your punch out in mid-air for a demonstration but that never happens in a real fight. For that matter a straight right karate style punch would almost never happen.
Wow, cool no sabia que esto estaba por youtube. Hace tiempo que no paso por el dojo. Pero al menos se donde repasar si algun detalle de las primeras katas se me olvida. ^_^ Espero que esten bien todos alla en Bayam'on. oss
