Great discussion point and those are good numbers. I agree around the need for safety when lifting. My rack has let me push my limits and not fear failing a lift. I value the importance of the basic exercises but have moved to the variations to overcome long term injuries and what i feel works for me right now. Will still return to the standard's as a strength test once in a while to mark my progress. Its a long process training totally natural but i just enjoy the privilage to work out the health benefits and see the gradual improvement.

I agree just about 100%. In my 40s I had a 330 lb bench, 470 squat, 590 deadlift. But life got in the way, I emphasised work and I also got into endurance sport. Not terrible but it chipped away at my strength and only at the beginning of this year did I decide I need to address this, so I am making a comeback with the barbells. The problem is that the mindset to succeed this way, naturally, flies in the face of current societal values. It is very hard, it takes time. It’s not the instant consumer self gratification. It is “ old school”. All you need is a basic bare bones set up, no shiny machines, no real need for the attractive commercial gym. A bar, plates, bench, rack. That is it. And a gut full of fight.

Consecutive model #’s of course. In the process of upgrading the crossover parts. Huh…mines the 1st version. Didn’t know that. Dr. D’s vid was great. No offense, but this room is small for real La Scala or even Forte appreciation. We all have our speaker love and limitations of space. I have no house. I make do with a 14 x 13 living room in a one bed and that is my theater. I am selling my bigass couch to make room for a second pair of Forte' I's as my surrounds. I want complete timbre matching. My Dad's Forte's I inherited are MINT. I live in West Hollywood and walk to work, so this is my car money. Home theater gives me and the gal joy.

Thanks for that information but when I bought the speakers, the first thing I did was to take the tweeters out and look to see if that was actually plywood or MDF and sure enough they had layered plywood I don’t know if that’s just the fronts of the speaker or the whole speaker but from what I saw they are plywood thanks again.

Congratulations on these speakers. They look fantastic. I'm a big fan of Klipsch myself. I've had almost everything from the Heritage line and currently own the AL5, but in a week, I'll be making the final upgrade to the Underground Jubilee. But... please... do something about your acoustics. You will gain so much in your music quality from this. Get a thick rug for the floor and place acoustic panels on your back wall and side walls. And I don't mean a flimsy wall hanging, but panels made of good acoustic material, 8 cm thick. I used to focus on better amplifiers, better speakers, but since I started working on the acoustics, the music sounds so much better. No amplifier upgrade can compete with this. Good luck with your channel and enjoy your amazing speakers.

Hi Claudio, my Forte 1s are almost as mint as yours, in oiled walnut, version 2, and I still have the original packaging and literature. Third owner, I bought them in y2k for $660. Note that the version 2 are rated 8 ohms vs the version 1 at 4 ohms. I don't know if there was any real difference in impedance rather than just how they rated it. I converted them to titanium tweeters and tend to agree that the phenolics are a bit sweeter, and will probably switch back eventually. I don't listen to them as often as they deserve as my La Scala bass cabinet-based DIY system is better still in tonality and soundstaging, with huge EV midrange horns, modern pro horn tweeters and an 18" pro cinema sub, all actively DSP multiamped. Some day I'll try actively multiamping the Fortes as I believe they will improve quite a bit by it, though I'm suspicious that the midrange horns' slight "cuppiness" is due to lens geometry and can't be equalized out. Cheers!

I happen to own the Bryston 4B NRB. I bought it from a small retailer in California well over a year ago. I live north of Toronto, Canada and had the amplifier shipped to me. I was told by the seller that Bryston had recapped the amplifier. I was not sure what that meant but am very happy with this amplifier. It sounds great. I have the Bryston 4B cubed in my sights but plan to keep the NRB. It is such a good amplifier that I don't want to give it up. By the way, Claudio Martini, I enjoyed your presentation. I am very curious to know how other owners feel about this amplifier. You helped to confirm my own thinking about the unit. Thank you.

Listening to this as I type, I was worried we were going to have a contradiction but no, all good. To me there is no real reason to focus on one specialisation. I did compete powerlifting at one point, but there is no real reason for the vast majority to sacrifice anything or not have it all, srength health, decent appearance. I suppose there is an element of individual preference here, if you like the higer reps or the lower reps then that will shape your training. For me, the heavy stuff, the powerlifts are best served with low reps and a good number of sets. Then the isolation stuff ca be done in the higher rep ranges. Natural limis - agreed, it might not be a absolute fixed value, but beyond a certain point progress is glacial and then certain aspects go backwards as age kicks in. Life will serve us with setbacks and often we end up trying to get back to where we were, and eventually even this is not really possible. As we age we get smarter about the training process, and in my mind there is no doubt that regardless of progress, difficulty training, and especially resistance training, is a necessity for the ageing person, the fountain of youth in many ways. All the best.
@Claudio-Martini
@Claudio-Martini 4 месяца назад
100% agree I just want to point out though that this type of training is only meant to change things up for short periods of time it is not for powerlifting purposes. It’s just to change and give your body a different type of training stimulus for different type of growth, It does get difficult as we age to progress and like you said sometimes we get a setback and it takes like hell to get back to where we were but this is the big picture in the process of getting there after all we’re not getting younger we’re getting older. Man I wish I was 30 years old again. Oh, by the way, mate I got me a squat stand so on my next leg day, I will use it and it’s at the perfect depth right at parallel.

As compared to the vast majority, this is great. I am not sure about the depth issue. I go down deep and usually touch a box below parallel but not ATG. So every rep is the same. On the one hand, yes, there is ever greater knee stress the lower you go. On the other, it is a case of use it or lose it. My squatting was mainly as a competitive powerlifter. I used to rep out with 200kg below parallel. Now I am starting to think 3 sets of 5 with 100k might be a far as I want to go with the squat, preserve it into old age. I think deadlift is more my thing, so likely I will push that and maintain squat. So many choices. Decades in like you, still love it!
@Claudio-Martini
@Claudio-Martini 4 месяца назад
Hey Mate, Yes, I’ve seen your squats and they look very good with excellent depth. I am able to go down deep with lightweight, but when it gets heavy it bothers my knees and lower back with heavy weight. It’s probably due to all the years spent in the martial arts. Again, your squats look very good coming out of the hole looks perfect. You come down good depth and come out moving good weight. Keep up the good work. I will get me a box also that way it is the some depth all the time, Thanks for the tip.
