Honestly if I had done the entire trip just to get to ride in Norway it would have been worth it. Such a beautiful place and I will be returning to the rest of Norway eventually.
Several years ago a motorbiker on a similar bike as yours, his youtube channel Backroad Motorcycle Adventures. In a video series that's been deleted, due to Russia Ukraine war. He was driving through Finland to get to Russia and drive up to Murmansk and then down through Norway back to Malmö. While driving through Finland he complained that Finland is boring and only has big roads. How wrong he was, had he done the route you did, he wouldn't have needed to delete his video series. It Just came to mind while watching your videos. He mostly drives on tarmac roads so maybe he couldn't have handled the TET in Finland.
I will have to check out his channel then and maybe I can get some inspiration on where to go next. I think Finland is the perfect beginners trans euro trail as it’s not at all difficult but still very nice to ride. Thanks for watching mate👍
Absolutely agree on the tourist things. I ride to ride. Don´t care too much about sightseeing unless it is a stunning landscape or of course something like the Nordkapp. The difference between Finland and Norway is crazy. I have to be honest. I am not sure if I want to take the TET through Finland, if I should manage to get to the Nordkapp ever. I think the coast road in Norway would be cool as a road ride and the swedish TET might be more intersting. But I am not certain. Which way did you take back? Give me a heads up, if you come to the alps. If I am home, I will try to make time for you. And you need to tell me about the tire choice then. If you want to experience the twisties, knobbies are probably not the best choice. I am surprised by the Anakee Adventures at least in warm weather, though. Now that it gets a bit colder they start sliding a bit more. Or maybe it is just the tires beeing almost worn and the performance dropping. If you come on knobbies, I hopefully have some tour ready where we can ride some gravel roads here and there. But remember, Germany is not ideal for that. But I will put knobbies on now in the colder time of the year for some offroad riding and finding interesting roads, since the street is now permanently covered in dirt from farmers, or it is cold or wet or all of the above XD. So why not switch to the dirt roads wherever it is possible.
I think a road trip up the coast of Norway is a definite bucket list ride, however I think it would also be quite expensive. I hear Swedish TET is similar to the Finnish TET. I came back down through Finland rather quickly on the way back as you will see in future episodes. Good to hear that you still ride in winter, a meetup might be closer than you think. 😉 I need to try to escape the Estonian winter.
@@BavarianBloodhound1 I guess it depends how you travel in Norway. Camping is possible in the same way as in Finland. Hotels are probably more expensive as well as food etc. But I am sure, the scenery would make up for it 😀 Ah okay. I am just not certain, if the Alps are the right destination for a winter escape😅. From October until May it can be very cold and you have to expect snow any time. If you want to go to southern Italy and just pass through, it should work but you will not be able to enjoy the nice roads in the alps or close to them, realistically speaking. In any case. If I can make some time I will do so.
@@BavarianBloodhound1 its not as common these days. When I'm at my cabin I go naked, but 99,9% of the time I'm alone there lol. Btw, sharks have fins, Finland has Finns ;D
Those stone fromations you called riverbeds are called "pirun pelto" roghly translated devils fields. And they were formed in anchien glacier edges way before stoneage so many thousands of years ago.
@Oubi_ so definitely older than I said. 😂 but at least I was right about it being an old glacier sort of thing. cheers for the info mate and thanks for watching👍
I think you mentioned in one of the previous videos about the issue of not having morning coffee, i think one way to solve that would be to buy some caffeine pills from the pharmacy or wherever those are sold.
Thats a good idea, I think I will have to have a look into it and on the days where I know I wont get a coffee I will just pop some pills instead. 😂 Cheers mate👍
@@BavarianBloodhound1 There was some of them yes, but I live I live in Norway and am used to mosquitoes. You just have to accept that they are also part of nature, and then it is wise to use a good mosquito repellent😉
Hey mate, I’ve just got my phone using the app (pocket earth) on the standard bmw preparation for navigation. There’s a link to the phone cradle in the video description as well if you’re interested. Cheers for watching 👍
That hill top looks very nice. Need to remember it, if I should get to Finland one day. Feels to me like a second guy would actually be nice to have on the TET in Finland. Mainly for entertainment 😛. Today first test with the seat position. Only commuting, so it isn´t saying too much. But it felt better. Maybe it is just the placebo effect and after an hour it looks different, but I am not sliding forward as much and can use the wider part of the seat more without it feeling awkward. On the weekend I will ride a couple hundred ks, that will show if it helped or not.
Would definitely be good to have a riding buddy in Finland. I only recently changed my seat as well so I’m still not sure if it has helped or just my ass is getting harder 😀
@BavarianBloodhound1 so. 1,000km and some this weekend with the seat changed into the other position. Instead of hurting after 1 hour, it is up to 3 hours now. It's still not impressive, but today's 8 hour ride felt much better. Probably, I should take more breaks generally. This might be enough of a fix for me to push through on longer days. Let's see. Thanks again for the information. In any case, it is an improvement👍
Good to hear it has helped a little. It is unfortunate that the seat in general is not overly comfy. man you are pumping out the kilometres. do you just go to the alps every weekend? Living the dream I think!!!
@BavarianBloodhound1 kind of. I don't always go to the alps. I just use calimoto and set a tour length and a direction and get a random tour, or I want to drive to a place I haven't been to and build a tour that way. I don't know if that is the dream, but I enjoy it😋. I am single, though. That helps with being able to just go for a full day ride or a weekend whenever I want.
Last summer I drove from southern Finland to Nordkapp and back alone (asphalt roads). the biggest distance in one day was 1000km and I was about to go crazy! The fact that the sun doesn't set at all at that time of year probably affects the madness xD. Oh and really enjoyable videos mate!
@jambba2208 That is a bloody big day mate, You must have an iron ass.😂 I think the sun definitely has a part to play as well. Thanks for watching and I'm glad you enjoyed it. 👍👍
You missed good mushroom hunting spot around @15:46 😄 Lot of chantarelles and other good stuff. I also recognized many gravel roads after that, loved to rode them when I had Fundoro about 10 years ago 👍
It’s always cool to see when someone is riding the roads you know. Maybe next time I will hunt for some mushrooms 🍄 and make a good chanterelle sauce. Cheers for watching mate. 👍
So now I can see u do have hybrid semi knobby tires not pure road tires. So that’s ok. 30/70 is fine for riding most of TET. But not all, I would prefer at least 40/60, but that’s me.
They were perfectly fine tyres for the finnish TET but they do leave you wanting on the Estonian TET. My next set will be more dirt bias, I'm thinking 70/30 at least for the riding that I like doing. cheers for watching mate 👍
I am going to say it. I think a career in music, specifically as a singer is probably not the smartest choice. So should you ever think about it, at least contact a professional first. It is funny though🤣
@@BavarianBloodhound1 And I forgot. A pro and con video would be intersting. I just had my 10.000km service last week and I also have some things in that time, which I didn´t like too much. Especially the seat (high comfort seat, enduro package footpegs). Since I have ridden 99% on road so far, that is a problem. Most likely going to change the seat soon. I have removed the bar risers. I will see if I need them back for off road. But on road they make the steering feel very twitchy at slow speed. Much prefer the lower bar position, despite being 190cm tall. For the moment Big Rock Moto, Bret Tkacs and Brake Magazin are right about the risers for me personally. But again, almost no offroad yet.
Good to know. 👍 what don’t you like about the foot pegs? I also have something to say about them but it would be interesting to hear what your opinion is. 10k already!!! You’re charging on that thing. I would imagine you have tried all the adjustments on the seat before coming to that conclusion?
@@BavarianBloodhound1 I have no problem with the footpegs. I just don´t know if the enduro pegs are higher or lower than the standard pegs. But the current position is not good for my knees😅. The adjustment is exactly the problem with the 1300. There is no adjustability. On the 1250 there was, here it isn´t. At leeast I haven´t found any. Yepp. 10k in a bit more than 2 months. Of course that is going to slow down a bit now with autumn and winter coming. But as long as it is not really poor weather, I will ride even in winter. Tires will need to be exychanged probably in the next 2-3k. Still wondering what to do. The Michelins are lasting surprisingly long (same like yours). Since I am planing to go to Sardinia next year, a pure street tire would be good. And later in the year most likely Bosnia, there I will go for the Dunlop Trailmax Raid.
@@BavarianBloodhound1 I have no problem with the foot pegs. I just don´t know if they are higher or lower than the standard pegs. The current position at least is bad for my knees😅. Adjustment is the problem. There is none on the seat. At least that I know of. If there is, I am happy for any advise. Yepp, 10k in a bit over 2 months. Now with winter coming, that pace will slow down of course. But as long as it is not really poor weather, I also ride in winter. What I am very pleased with so far ar the Michelin tires you have as well. They still have 2-3ks in them I think. Not perfect for offroad of course but they last forever. I am still debating what to do, since I will go to Sardinia in April/May next year. There a steet tire would make sense for the awesome twisties. And at the end of August I will most likely go to Bosnia for offroad riding. For that I am currently looking at the Dunlop Trailmax Raid. What is your plan regarding the next tire set?
Ear tags are for ownership purposes (dif. tag for each family/owner), those reindeers aren't wild people. I mean they have more freedom than moo moo's.
I am watching you and don't really understand your trail braking, but it maybe that I just don't see it! Sort of boring after a while! A map might help a little, but the Scandinavian gravel roads are similar all through the three northern countries. It makes TET sort of useless to watch. I'd do the Norwegian west coast, which is IMHO the only sights worth seeing up there. But you could not necessarily know that, so ride on. However, street tires are sort of useless on that stuff.
Totally get what you mean! The roads can be a bit repetitive, but I'm glad you're still tuning in. The west coast sounds awesome-maybe I’ll hit that up next time! Thanks for the heads-up! As for trail braking, iiiiiittttttt is possible that I'm not doing it very well.😂 after all I'm not a professional.
😂😂 yes you are correct but then at the end of summer I wouldn’t have my R 1300 GS Ammm I a thinking Jawa pilot? I’m not sure if this is an insult 🤣🤣🤣🤣 Probably is but ignorance is bliss. Thanks for watching anyway 👍
