Yeah the only cat back I've ever seen made was the OBX. Impossible to find now. If you are wanting to save some weight and have slightly more noise then I'd recommend just cutting off the muffler and have a shop weld up some new pipe.
Huh. My cat must be blown then. 06 crv lx awd K24a2. No muffler on it just a test pipe im and its like 10x louder lol. Then again these exhausts love to leak up towards the cat and down by the muffler anyways
Removing the muffler, ofc no haha, only the sound, if you want just a little bit of hp, you need to put some headers on the Exhaust manifold, a whole custom Exhaust manifold with an resonator, and you've receiving like a 10 or 15 more hp, it depends, if you put headers in your car, you are given to the car more air outlet, so the hp increase, that's it
Take off the bezel cover by pushing in on the tabs located to the right and left. You can see where the wires go to the bulb, twist the plastic connector counterclockwise and you can pull out the bulb housing. The bulb should then pull out of the housing.
An Led version would be much cooler and agreed it does make it less visible. The light is already really small though and the CRV still has 2 huge brake lights so I can't imagine it's really a significant difference in visibility to other drivers.
Hey Jean, you can order it on my Etsy shop here. www.etsy.com/listing/983589198/brake-light-cover-for-2002-2006-honda?click_key=19f480fe87af3f7889d128e388243a1a5550763a%3A983589198&click_sum=2946fa0f&ref=shop_home_active_6&crt=1&sts=1
@@WRGperformance Nice! If you want a lot of weight savings delete the cat, resonator, and muffler. Install aftermarket mufflers and I wouldn't go more than 2 inch pipe to keep the low end power. Otherwise just doing a muffler delete is a great starting point
Sorry no. I had to swap out the exhaust due to rust so it's basically stock now. I remember it being slightly audible while driving. So if you are looking for for something more noticeable then you need to replace the resonator as well. However, if you want a cheap mod that reduces weight, adds slight noise, and "improves mileage", then this is a great one to do. (improves mileage is in quotes because it is minute).
@@Reefer-Rampage69 haha that's funny that post is still getting views since I posted it 5 years ago. Still got the same CRV though and it rides just as good.
Love your cr v sounds mean love the tone I have a 07 cr v with hps short ram intake and Apexi n1 exhaust check it out. I did loose mpg big time but it not a big deal to me
just deleted mine today and the engines on crvs are so smooth that you can barely tell there was a delete until you floor it or hit high revs. even then it sounds like butter. i love it
@@AK47UMERKHAN before i give you an answer let me tell you a little story. When i first got my crv, i was being complemented by people with brand new cars about how smooth and floaty my 2003 crv sounded and felt. Everyone loved it. I found it so strange because they had new cars, but they were right. My crv felt and sounded very nice. When i got my muffler delete, all of that went out the window. Essentially the crv felt cheaper. Now that im done with my cautionary tale, to answer your question : there is alot of drone on the highway. Not too much in the city, but it can be noticable. Especially 60+ gets a little loud at about 70-80. I think that's due to the 4 speed automatic transmission, and the fact that crvs have little to no sound insulation. After about 2 years with it like this, i can say that most days, i want to put a muffler back on it and thats because when you get used to the sound, it doesn't feel the same and feels like when it's louder on lower speeds, the car feels slower. I think it's psychological but it does feel like that. If you like louder cars that give off more agressive sounds, this is a good mod. It doesn't sound cheap like a civic, it sounds proper. The only thing is that at lights, you'll probably feel slower than everyone else around you because when you have a muffler, you feel like you're moving with traffic, versus with no muffler which makes you feel like you're trying to beat traffic, which makes you feel like your car should be going faster. It really is a love/hate relationship after having it for so long. At first you'll really like it but then i think you'll start to develope mixed feelings about it. my early morning starts, at high idle, especially colder days, its not super loud but it is loud. It is noticeably more than stock. It sounds like a different car. However after cold start, at NORMAL idle, it sounds stock quiet.
The term ricer had been used so much that it became an excuse on hating other's creativity. Yeah it will make it sound louder not faster (ricey) but hearing the vtec clearer makes up for it.
No I really liked the subtle difference with the muffler delete. While the resonator is big, taking it off would make it too loud for me as a daily driver.
@@oldschoolrepairshop2866 sorry I didn't pay too close attention to my gas mileage. It wasn't obvious enough to take notice but it probably didn't hurt too much either
Yeah I kept the cat cause I was in California at the time. Here is a link to a video where I ended up doing my own cat back exhaust ru-vid.com/video/%D0%B2%D0%B8%D0%B4%D0%B5%D0%BE-yVVM9LHiOas.html. Overall it was a total fail and I wish I just left the it at the muffler delete.
Very nice 👌 Helps that bulletproof baby breathe better too , all those ridiculous mufflers,( not yours ,talking in general) if I had my way I'd straight pipe from Cat , if I had a beautiful CRV 👌 Great upload 🖒
Yeah it is in most states. Look up your states laws on car mods. CA is one of the strictest and it is legal to do any mods past the catalytic conveyer since it doesn't impact emissions.
Hey quick question, I'm looking at doing this on mine because I have the infamous whistle and I can't afford a new muffler, but is it annoyingly loud on the road?
Yep it was my first attempt at a project like this. Learned a lot, mostly that it was a little beyond my expertise but maybe next time around I could do it right.
Just wanted to update everyone that I've since put the OEM exhaust back on, but with the muffler delete. I eventually got tired of the sound and the welds were in fact not sealed, creating more sound in the car. Lesson learned, just take it in to a muffler shop.
Wasn't meant to be. For $70 I guess I expected some pretty nice looking welds but in the end it got the job done and no one except me is gonna bother to crawl under to look at them.
StephSabon For sure. It will make it somewhat louder but in my case, you could barely hear a low grumble. As long as you keep the resonator and catalytic converter I'm sure it will sound good.
Yeah definitely. It actually came off an OBX racing header that ended up not fitting, even with bashing the crap out of it. So I tore it off and used it on the catback since the flange matched up with the catalytic converter.
Bruce Thorogood haha I know it's silly modding a crv for performance but heh why not! I think it sounds better in person too cause my mic isn't too good. Also, this is the only car I've owned.
You have to figure, the CR-V has way more engine than the Civic. That 2.4 is a beast compared to the 1.6 in the Civic. Which, I love both, dont get me wrong but there's just no replacement for displacement!
How To REDAQ I ended up taking off the resonator and making a custom cat back exhaust. I'll put up a video soon. I used a magna flow muffler and ultra quiet vibrant resonator with 2 and 1/4 inch piping.
