It actually was quite a series. They featured Vincent Price in Ruddigore, Joel Grey in The Yeomen of the Guard, Frank Gorshin in Princess Ida, and William Conrad in The Mikado.

This is one of those few cinematic moments that I keep very close to my heart. This is a type of scene whose success or failure relies almost completely on self restraint . The fact that it is so perfectly handled makes it all the more admirable. The look on that Centurion's face....the honesty of that reaction is profoundly moving. I can scarcely think of another example of so much being said in so few words.
A very funny movie, but it would have been even funnier had the casting not reflected the racism of the day. It would have been great to see, say, Redd Foxx or Cantinflas or Keye Luke in it.
