I'm 48 and am planning on going to nursing school next fall. I'm glad I found this on here. I was gonna be a nurse when I was younger but life got in the way. I have been a caregiver my whole life.

Hi Nurse Mo, I just got finished listening to your latest pod cast and then I watched your video on studying for nursing school. As of right now, I am in the pre-req classes of my journey to becoming a nurse. Your one time only limited cost for boot camp is $67 (that's is awesome!) and I would have access to it for only 30 months (but I can ask for an extension-thank you) but I am concerned because If I buy it now
@carriejacik7426
@carriejacik7426 Месяц назад
sorry, I hit send before I was finished. If I purchase bootcamp now- the access might be over (or half way through my course) by the time I start the actual nursing classes. I am confused as to why once purchased, we cannot keep forever. Please let me know if you can help me, Thanks so much

I am 60, have been retired for 2.5 years and have decided to get back in the game. Its been 35 years since I graduated college and I spent most of my career in my own business, unrelated to health fields. Now, I'm doing prerequisites to enter a nursing program. I will be 63, by the time I have my BSN, but as long as I'm strong and healthy, I am almost convinced it doesn't matter. Being retired isn't challenging or fullfilling to me Those of us who have maturity and world knowledge are perhaps in a better position to make a difference in health care and in people's lives.

LPN is a fabulous option! And if you decide to get your RN, you can work as a nurse while you go through a bridge program :-) Wishing you ALL the best!!

Im 46 was in special ed throughout school, I dropped out of jr college 20 years ago because my grades were so bad. I had a 0.8 gpa and I have never worked a day in my life, seriously, not one. My IQ is 86. What are the odds I would succeed?
@StraightANursing
@StraightANursing 3 месяца назад
Nursing is a very challenging program and you need a strong background in science in order to be successful. My suggestion would be to start with college-level science courses and see how it goes!

I graduated Nursing School at 49 and passed NCLEX and I was so scared. I did very well though. I have 6 children at home and that was hard. But tech changes were my biggest challenge . But hard work and good team work really made up for that and I made lifetime friends with people of all ages

I'm with little kids. Some are very spoiled and task oriented. I have worked my whole life I am an LVN and married to a fire captain. Thor is very little support for us they assume we are fine while the little kids get all the nice comments and support. I definitely shine in clinical. But this has been disappointing
@StraightANursing
@StraightANursing 4 месяца назад
I'm sorry you're experiencing this. Is it possible the younger students are getting more support is because they need it, whereas you are performing at a higher level? Just something to think about. 💕 Regardless, I am proud of you!!!! I hope your next clinical rotation is a better experience...keep on believing in yourself :-)

I am 50 and seriously planning to head back to nursing school. I tried when I was 40 and ended up dropping out because I started having panic attacks ( it was more about what was going on at home) but my kids are raised now and I’ve always thought about being a hospice nurse. I’m also a preacher soooo praying for Gods will in all of this.

Hi there! Essentially being able to solve problems and seek solutions independently...for example, if you have a question about something it's far more efficient if you can find the answer yourself rather than simply relying on someone else to answer it for you. Chances are, you'll find the information MUCH more quickly than if you have to wait for someone else to respond. Best of luck to you!
