it's a shame they don't play this song all the way2 the end, coz it has the Lone ranger saying, "Hi Yo Silver, Away" then there's a crack on the wipe, taken from the Lone ranger Radio show, such an underrated classic tune.

I have a hard time hearing this song as it was written for Kenny Goss, his lover at the time. They broke up in 2009 and after GM died in 2016, Goss went and sold interviews to The Sun (owned by Murdoch who tormented GM his entire career) and talked about GM's very personal private matters and we all know how much GM valued his privacy; Goss then went on to sue GM's family for money as he was not in GM's will - and, he ended up getting money from GM's family just last year or the year before. He made out that at 63 (when he won that money) that he wasn't likely to get another career but neglected to say he and GM split up when Goss was still in his 40s - so...was it always about the money? My take is: partly, yes. How could he sell stories about GM to the Sun and also talk to Piers Morgan who also works for Murdoch knowing how GM despised Murdoch? I hope GM didn't know what Goss was really like but I have a sense that he did to some degree.
Great song though it fell short of the UK top if there wasn’t a strike at the Chiswick record pressing plant it would’ve been a much bigger hit and would of sold well. The song fared better in most other countries than in their native homeland. They only got on top of the pops as a last minute replacement for the Gang of Four who were forced to pull out because their song at home he’s a tourist which was too political. With the strike the single was unavailable for 4/5 weeks before it fell down and out of the charts.
Despite been a huge hit in Australia, New Zealand, USA, Canada and Netherlands it failed to hit the big time in their own country. It stalled at number 42 possibly due to a strike at the Chiswick (EMI) pressing plant that produced a limited number of copies.

I remember as a nipper in the late 80s I hung around on the park/kids playground near to my house. It was in a quietish area and was surrounded with railings and was next to a side road. There were many older kids than me in their early to mid teens that used to hang around on there. Anyway, every time a moped came up the road all the kids would jump off the swings and run to the railings and shout “moooove funky moped!!” doing the revving action with their hands. I never had a clue where they got it from until 35+ years later I come across this video! 😂
