To the Ethikweni Municipality, We, the residents of Tongaat, are writing to express our strong objection to the sudden demand to pay for the 6kl of free water that was previously provided to us. As pensioners, we are deeply concerned about the financial implications of this unexpected charge. We believe it is unacceptable and unethical to expect us to pay for a service that was initially offered for free. Many of us have been mindful of our water and electricity usage, carefully monitoring our accounts to ensure we stay within our means. We urge the Ethikweni Municipality to scrap or write off the 6kl free water allocation that was previously provided. It is unfair to retroactively charge us for a service that was promoted as free.
