What I miss is herself, as a person, although she never revealed to her fans who she really was (of course her privacy is to be respected); but I also, and often, imagine what Miss Garbo could have given the world of motion pictures if she hadn't retired at such an early age. The roles she played in her movies were women, let's say, on a pedestal, refined, sensitive, delicate, above the ordinary, that managed to capture the entire world's audience also thanks to the historical periods in which they were produced: the 1st world war, the post-wear euphoria, the new role of women in society, which required dreaming, searching, identifying with new women's models. And that's where GREAT GRETA came in, enchanting, alluring, creative, original. But, again, her decision to quit was hers and hers only and through that she has remained eternally young, enchanting alluring and everlasting DIVINE, above everyone. If she had stayed in the movies, she would also have had to play more down-to-earth roles, including ageing queens, politicians... But that she didn't wish to do, that wouldn't have been "our" GARBO.
Han tror på inget, bortsett förstås från tron på att inte tro på något… så egentligen ett cirkel-resonemang, en illusion. Men sätter onekligen skickligt fingret på samtidens tankegångar.
