Old motorcycles are fun.
Some are cheap and they are easy to repair by yourself. You do not need a big budget to maintain them.
The sound and the feed back from the engine are just better than with modern bikes.

This ignition sensor sits on the original ignition shaft, which is coupled with a bevel gear to the camshaft, which is connected with a chain to the crankshaft. So a lot of play in between all of these three shafts, leading to a not that precise ignition. Isn‘t there a solution to have the sensor directly at the crankshaft?

Morning. 👍 Great video - great music 😂. I have fitted the Ekektronica system to my Le Mans engine and am looking to fit to my V50 Monza. Works well. Two things I’m not sure about. Perhaps you could help? Have not even looked yet to be fair. Obviously I need to take the contact breakers and cam ‘plate’ off. Do you need pullers to take the cam plate off or will it come off with some persuasion? Can’t find references in the manual. What did you do - assuming it wasn’t already off your V65? Secondly out of interest, obviously I can measure once I have it off but, do you know which cam shaft (11/12/14 mm) I’ll need to order with the Monza? Many thanks, David. 👍

Currently own a 1989 Moto Guzzi Mille GT 1000 cc that I have had for 20 years. Once took me 120 miles on one cylinder at highway speed when one spark plug wire crapped out on a Sunday morning with no shops open. At almost 70 years old it has gotten too heavy to maneuver in and out of situations. Purchased a 2013 Moto Guzzi V7 Stone at more than 100 pounds less wet weight. Absolutely love it. Will stay with Moto Guzzi for the rest of my riding life. I have owned BMW, Laverda, Ducati, Moto Morini, Triumph, BSA, Zundapp, Indian, Suzuki, Kawasaki, Cagiva and loved them all for different reasons, but the fact that I can physically handle the weight of a bike that will cruise (illegally) at 85-90 mph for as long as I need, looks good, is reliable and affordable and unique, why shop anywhere else?- -Mike Battle

A serious question - is there a reason you inserted the piston into the cylinder from the top, then pushed it all the way through so you could connect the wrist pin (piston pin)? I'd have thought, since you have the luxury of taking the cylinder completely off the bike, you'd just insert the piston from the bottom - but there might be a reason why you can't do that. I'm interested to know. :)
@neophobiagarage1845
@neophobiagarage1845 2 года назад
Indeed, unlike with a MOTO GUZZI cylinder, with a BMW the piston will not slide into the cylinder as easy, you have to squeeze the rings. If you do it from the top, more than half of the piston is already in the cylinder before the rings enter. So the piston is better aligned, If you do it from beneath, there is only 1 cm of piston in the cylinder before the first ring enters. Also, the top of the piston is easier to tap in compared to the bottom of the piston. I like it better this way. Just my way.......
