I think it would be a mistake for van Aert to set a short term objective like the Tour de France or the Olympic Road Race. Because I think that after not being able to compete in his main objectives of the season, a figure of his calibre needs time to find a winning motivation again. I have a big doubt about van Aert if he sets a more distant objective like the Tour of Spain or the road race of the World Cup in Zurich or if he decides to give up the season , and he decides to use it to find that winning motivation again and use it as extra motivation to come back stronger than ever in 2025
He seemed like he was in really good spirits at this race which is a good sign. Especially after a brutal crash like that. The Olympic par course is bumpy, but I think it’s within his reach if he can get his form on point by then. Only about 68 days left.
MvdP and Pog are still the main contenders for the Olympics and the WC + Belgium team has Remco, who might be the main leader of that national team, so Wout will work for him.
I’m not so sure WVA will work for Remco at the Olympics…The course is bumpy, WVA can get through it. I can see a situation where Remco possibly launches solo to win which would force the other contenders (who you mentioned) to bring him back while WVA bides his time in the chase. Either way, it’s going to be fun to watch. I wouldn’t mind seeing someone random winning either.
There is no way WvA will be up to competitive strength in 60days. The other guys like Remco or MvdP have way better form by the time the olympics start
Oh, I didn’t see a bottle on his bike as I watched live. But that doesn’t change anything for me. I still think it’s really cool what he did for the kid!
Thanks! Been really enjoying it. I should have their road bike soon. Going to do a review on that one after Im able to get some riding in on it. Thanks for taking the time to watch 🤝🏾
Thomas, the shill for Team Sky, wont say the quiet part out loud, thing is G let's say most know how TP is doing it, and it isn't gels and energy bars.
Hi, and thanks! I bought the Bon Jons for my Caledonia but immediately sold them. I live up north, so lots of rain, dirt and mud, even on roads. I rode Conti Terra Speed 35 for some time. They measure 34mm on my Zipp303FC. Really nice tire, easy tubeless, super fast on hard surface and gravel. Not so much in the mud though, there is just not enough clearance. After a couple of long gravel races my chainstays and seattube are pretty much bare carbon by now. Also, even if the Terra Speeds are super fast on roads, they suffer if used on tarmac. Still looking for the right tire for long rides that might contain some easy gravel. For real gravel and muddy trails I guess I better get a gravel bike soon...
that would be a mistake. he should retire at quickstep and show the young wolfpups how to deal with Patrick. He should def. ask for more money if he wins another stage at the Giro and takes one at the TdF.
I'm tired of everything, EVERYTHING in America. High cost of living so much I have to back move in around toxic people, I feel like a loser in my late 30's. Drowning in student loan debt, Can't get a mortgage if I wanted. I owe 81k that's a Mortgage right there. Unmarried. No children but want at least only 1. Tired of feeling like I have to compete with everyone. I'm leaving everything behind. Looking to move to Spain. Starting over
Hey, Miguel. Sorry to hear that my friend. I think scientifically backed evidence that not eating enough directly affects our performance on the bike (and testorone levels) is pretty interesting. But, thanks for watching! I appreciate it.
training road it’s just a little boring 🥱 for me zwift with the video game style is amazing. i cycle outside and inside. going through that whole setup of training road for something i’m not getting paid for is a waste of time. zwift is a win for me and i recommend it for everyone.
Looking forward to more bikes like this being on the market, even in the road field...I've had T-type transmission with road shifters/crankset and it has been really nice to use.
I personally consider pogacar to be the best rider in the world at the moment but I think that in the distant future he will not be remembered as what he is as a media figure because he has just coincided with other great cyclists who can beat him in their time, roglic and more recently remco, vingegaard, van der poel and even van aert who have already won some objectives that pogacar still has pending: world championships both time trial and road , vuelta a españa , milan san remo , critérium du dauphiné , roubaix , itzulia and the individual time trial of the olympic games among other great races that some of his great rivals already have in their palmares.
You make some great points! I had never thought of that. He still has time left to pursue those races. Personally I would love to see him in the World Champ RR jersey 🌈I think that should be his next target.
Remco, Vingegaard, Roglič, Van Aert, Van der Poel combined: 2 Tour de France Pogačar alone: 2 TdF MVDP: 6 Monuments Pogačar: 6 Monuments Van Aert, Remco, Roglič, Vingegaard combined: 4 Monuments And you think his legacy will fade compared to theirs? Lol Oh, and he’s also younger than all of them bar one.
Seems to be a popular topic at the moment. Tim Spector’s ‘Food for Life’ book talks about keeping food natural and diverse e.g 30 different veggies a week. Reading the ingredients can be quite scary. Seems a complete contrast to the cycle/fitness industry where we consume gels and powders, all ultra processed foods.
That was interesting… nutrition has to be the most complex part of this sport… what to eat vs what not to eat… now I gotta throw away all my gels… 😂😂🙌🏽
Haha…it gets so complex man. I’d keep the time frame in mind though. You and I aren’t doing three week events, and we won’t be constantly slamming multiple gels down for 5-6 hours a day. Personally for me I feel like I need to be better at getting those complex carbs in regularly. The riders that did that and came into sample point A with the bacteria associated with those carbs did best. But it’s hard for me to let go of my potato chip addiction 😅
According to Seiler, it's not 80% of the time. It's 80% of the sessions. So, in a 10-day period, there are two HIGH INTENSITY days within it (aka ~3 hard sessions approximately every 2 weeks or 6 hard sessions per month). If you do it by time, you'll likely end up with too many "hot" sessions.
This is my new carbon gravel bike. The MMR X-Tour with SRAM T-Type, DT Swiss wheelset, Ultra Dynamico tires and an OLD Wahoo ELMNT Bolt that still works😅 The price is NOT a typo. It’s very affordable at around $3,000 USD (full build). I’ll do a longer video on it soon. So make sure you subscribe (if you aren’t already) if you want to see it once I post it. Until then hope you guys enjoy the sneak peek! Also, if you have any specific questions about the bike, let me know in the comments ⬇️and I’ll answer them in the video I put together.
Both Zwift and Trainer Roads programs are too intense and leads to burnout. They are good for final weeks leading up to season start, but I haven’t yet been able to complete a longer one. I’m not a professional so I can’t sleep 10 hours a day and spend the rest of the day relaxing after workouts.
Try Trainerroad’s polarized plan if you haven’t already. I have experienced burnout with their plans before and this plan was a welcomed change. Zwift training plans are notoriously bad. BUT, I do enjoy racing on their platform.
Sweet Spot is perfect for time crunched cyclists (<6-8hours a week). Polarized plan is good for deloading period or for pre-base period. I saw tremendous. Successes with sweet spot. I train for results, nothing can give you better results than sweet spot when you do not have time for more.
I mean to each their own. I’ve done both plans and experienced positive results. I think the key is to find what works for you, your goals, your body and your race schedule.
Lots of talk about FTP like it's the be all end all, it isn't! The thing is though, it's a measurable metric for most people and people are happy when the number goes up regardless of anything else and TR know this! FTP sells, and TR is selling!
