Founded in 1972, the Woodland Trust is the UK's leading woodland conservation charity.
Our vision is a UK rich in native woods and trees, for people and wildlife.
We aim to: create new native woodland with the help of communities, schools, organisations and individuals; protect our precious ancient woods, restore the ones that are damaged and fight for those under threat; inspire people up and down the country to visit woods, plant trees, and enjoy the many benefits that woodland has to offer.
Well done to everyone involved for protecting this rare wildlife haven. Lets hope there will be no sequel to the development saga, but if the destructive forces do try again it's reassuring that the army of nature guardians will be ready and lying in wait. ❤
🙏🏼💕Thank you so much for all you do. Ancient woodland is irreplaceable, housing can be sited pretty much anywhere - it's nonsensical to me why the latter would take precedence over the former. I will always support you, please keep fighting wherever it is needed 🙏🏼💕
A marvelous achievement, well done all. More of this please! Sadly this truly awful government is hellbent on making sure housing developments go through regardless of common sense. At least with the last lot there was wiggle room to get things thrown out. But do keep fighting! Every blade of grass is worth it.
Affric is hoping for a fish , which Garry ended up catching for her. They are like old friends now after 3years of meetings. Any news about the chick at Bunarkaig fledging , it has been difficult year with bad weather. Hope all is well with Louis & Dorcha, been missing them.
Hi, the programme in Spain was the best option as it was already planned and in motion and it has been incredibly fortuitous that the timing fits with the emergence of our crisis on the nest at Arkaig.
You all do such a wonderful job, our wildlife needs every little bit of help it can get. All of us need to do our bit, good luck to the chicks in Spain, it will help to save these beautiful birds and enrich their wildlife. Thank you team.
It seems this year nature is taking a bashing. I have no insects in my nature garden, its having a knock on affect for my birds and hedgehogs nothing to feed on. I have never bought so much food for them all, I am seriously worried about our wildlife, not one butterfly to count this year. I wish Louis and Dorcha all the best they give so much joy to us viewers. Well done team.
I can't help but wonder if the stress of trying to feed the 2 Bobs 🐥🐥 and Dorcha 🪶 through the terrible weather just wore Louis out 😐 Now he and Dorcha look much improved 🤩😘
This is bittersweet ❤ The size of that tiny fish, poor Louis & Dorcha, weather has been against them badly this year. Glad the WT took the decision to save the chicks with Roy Dennis foundation & thanks to Fundacion Migres for looking after so many young ones. Safe fledging to them. Already feel anxious for Louis & Dorcha to migrate & return, prayers of protection & good health for them both.🙏🏻
Louis has been building up the rails & doing his housework, it's good to see them together & looking healthy. It was very fortunate that the translocation was happening to save both chicks. Thanks to WT & Fundacion Migres❣
Was so sad to see this family divided; but the welfare of the chicks is essential… I hope they flourish well in Spain, and hope Louis and Dorcha have further broods; here’s hoping for less jeopardy in the future👏❤️
Just brilliant to see this! I had no idea of the beautiful tree under the nest and the surrounds, gorgeous countryside. Super job team and absolutely perfect music! Sadly I can't seem to link to the website for chat and updates of fish deliveries etc this year. I get this: The request is blocked. 20240701T002123Z-16b86d94878mnnnz28man3xzrc0000000fsg000000007fgt Any suggestions or solutions welcome :)
Beautiful view of the tree & nest 2. Wish the weather would improve for the Ospreys this year. Hail & gale force winds to end of June. Dorcha has proved herself to be a devoted Mum, Louis the best fisherbird ever. 😻🏴
Beautiful view of nest1. Have noticed it's more sheltered from the gale force winds & hail that nest2 gets often. Still have hopes this nest will be claimed, 2025 now.
