Whoever first taught that "long vowels say their name" did a great disservice to all English learners after them. This is the ultimate end of that journey.
I feel like the Mii symbol could've been salvaged if the two dots in the "ii" had faces like most Mii logos. I'm not sure why they omitted this part of the symbol in Smash (and Mii Contest Channel, apparently.) Now I'm just salty about the Mii-related icons in Smash - Wuhu Island also looks weird.
I should mention that Mario Maker 3DS reuses many levels (but not all) from the 10 Mario Challenge from the Wii U version. So, its even more of a port.
When I play hangman, I think about the 6 syllable types a lot (closed, open, VCe, R-controlled, vowel team, C-le) and various spelling rules (like double f, l, s, and z after short vowels). I probably would be able to guess jazz faster than most people because after realizing it wasn’t a vowel team or VCe syllable, I would start trying for the double consonant rule and try letters like f or z.
Isn't the Metroid symbol supposed to a Chozo letter? Or something like that? A feel that if you look at it like that, that symbol might just be better representation of Metroid than Samus' moveset tbh. The Chozo are the ones who gave Samus her iconic armour, are the ones who built the statues and the temples you find all throughout the series, and are so relevant to the narrative of the series that Ravenbeak, the most recent villain, is also tied to those people. It being Samus's initial and final letters, while also looking like one of her attacks, is just the icing on the cake. Easy S Tier
Terrible news, I've got another interpretation of /hj "I'm going to buy an absurd amount of orange juice /hj" can mean that they are going to buy a lot of orange juice but they say it in a funny way (on second though, why not use "lol" instead of "/hj"?)
I wonder how spread this game actually is. Probably the whole Europe and in the US. I’m working in school in Poland and every kid know this game so the oral tradition is still strong.
this is a really good video but also it made me realize that i have all the cues in lockstep memorized just from listening to the background music?? fun
37:11: Technically, based on shared universes you could potentially connect the following serieses: “Super Mario” “Dr. Mario” “Donkey Kong” “Yoshi’s Island” “Punch Out!” “Banjo Kazooie” “Conker’s Bad Fur Day” “Wario Ware” “Rhythm Paradise” “Yooka-Laylee” “Sonic the Hedgehog” and “Pac-Man” The last three are debatable though.
/hj is a true but not a sincere or serious comment ex; Im going to kill them /hj its true that the speaker *wants* to do that, but they will not actually do that, which can bring relief or clarification to the reader if someone said "Im going to kill them /j" this may be seen as silly, lighthearted, and not an important topic while if they used "Im going to kill them /hsrs or /srs" (half serious or serious) Both serious and half serious imply that you may actually take the action that you spoke on, which could be a cause for concern to the reader. Basically, in short, /hj is to describe that your intent is to be lighthearted and jokeful, but the comment is also factual.
Exit distance off divided highways, routinely us 500 ft, 1,000 ft to tell when the exit begins rather than more useful 0.1 miles which is available in the odomer on ihe instrument display
You could have a prefix to allow for imaginary and complex number bases, where everything before the prefix would be the real component and everything after would be the imaginary component. What would be a fun prefix for that. Maybe Fanta? Like fantasy?
I just learned, as in like, less than a minute ago when I went back to watching a different video about number bases, that base -1+i can actually be pretty useful, or at least interesting, because it can be used to represent any number, real, imaginary, or complex, with only 1s and 0s, without the need to separate them into two parts added together. Any other base that follows the format of -a±bi, where a and b are positive integers (maybe also positive non integers? I'm not sure), can do this, but -1+i is the simplest example. So, if we allow fanta on its own to represent 1i, this system would be called "negaunfantanary." Or if "nega" is actually just the root for -1 to multiply other numbers by, simply "negafantanary." Also note that i am not at all attached to the prefix "fanta" i just thought it was mildly funny because soda. If anyone has any better ideas I'd love to hear
17:20: Say, does anybody else feel like the Captain reminds them of Quaxley from “Pokémon Scarlet and Violet”? Maybe that’s another reason I thought they’d be more popular in Japan.
I believe the reason people would include New Super Mario Bros. 2 over DS is that maybe people consider Wii to be, more or less, just a better version of DS and therefore is the definitive 1st New Super game
Tbh, I don't like that Celsius and Fahrenheit are called "units". They are not the same as other units, like meter or whatever, as they have a "constant term". It makes sense to say 2m is twice as long as 1m, but it's ridiculous to say 40C is "twice as hot" as 20C.
The logical contradiction wrt orange juice is the joke. I am going to buy an amount of orange juice that looks superficially absurd because it's more than I typically buy, but on more serious inspection is a sensible amount of orange juice (maybe I drank 3 cartons of orange juice and I need to suddenly restock everything). This is a bad example because it's not funny. I think the bigger takeaway is that neurotypicals are often not concerned with how they're interpreted.
