Been there done that. The prep is never fun but my dad had colon cancer and survived so I need to make sure I do it. My husband gets the mail in test if you know what I mean but I’m not a candidate for that.
I get the pills because I have a terrible stomach that pukes everything. I did yellow jello and ice pups and I did broth as well. And butt wipes is your friend.
Believe it or not the liquid prep taste has improved over the years….. still awful. When you aren’t use to drinking abundance of water in a short time frame…. It’s not fun. Thank you for making this video so folks know what to expect. Yes…. Charmin is your friend . 😂
I am NOT looking forward to this. Lol I'm 40, 4-5 more years before I need this. I was so upset when my dad who's a retired physician informed me that they changed it from 50 to 45 for standard screening. I've watched my parents go through the shit over the years. 🤢🤮
Had my first colonoscopy two years ago, my husband and I told each other all the bad poop jokes we could think of. I could only have veggie broth and sports drinks. At least you didn’t have to prove you weren’t pregnant ahead of the procedure. Two and a half bags of saline and three hours in the prep room I was finally able to have the procedure.
This was me during the Solar Eclipse, distracted me from not being able to eat but they gave me a 4liter thing with powder. Fill up the day before starting prep so it could chill... got sick but they were still able to do it
Loves Napa/Sonoma, baseball, and Disney. 😍 I’m a member at Kunde and De La Montanya. Highly recommend both! I actually prefer Sonoma myself. In fact, I’m going to Girl and the Fig this weekend! Also, Go Giants!
Max, on the whole this was a very moving video and having to driven the appointment by a friend gives a new meaning to the phrase butt buddy. Seriously that was a very unselfish to share your experience and raise awareness of the for early screening cancer in all forms especially breast, prostate and colon.
Ugh, I hate the liquid you have to drink the day before, but it is good to find out if you are cancer free😊. I was awake for both my test colonoscopies😊
If you’re reading this and getting a colonoscopy- opt for miralax with gatorade if you can!! I was prescribed su prep but after researching, i called my doctor and asked if i could do miralax and they said no problem. (use a straw for ease in getting down!) Ended up being clear as could be with no issues during procedure. Prep was nothing like i thought it was gonna be. I strongly believe this is because of the prep i chose. It was very gentle and no pain, cramping, or nausea at all. Just very time consuming having to sit there all night! And morning appointment is best so you don’t have to starve yourself more than necessary. The hardest part for me was not eating for so long, but once 12 hours passed, i think my body started to use other sources for energy and the hunger subsided. If you can take the day off during prep, do it so that you can nap through the hunger! Propofol was used during procedure and it really was a nice nap. No drowsiness after at all! Meal after was the best thing i’ve ever tasted. 👍🏻
The tri-tip sandwich at the seaside market is what I always get, it is amazing! The tri-tip nachos are even more popular than the sandwich and are also pretty good.
I started my prep early in the day because I didn’t want to be up all night. Ia,so started a low-residue diet 3 days before and that seemed to help because I can never get all of the prep liquid down. 🤮
The way I shuddered when you pulled out those two little bottles of that solution 😩 the liquid diet wasn’t bad at all. But it was those solution bottles, that killed me! The smell to this day 🤢 so the next morning… when I took the last solution bottle. An hour later it all came back up, same way it went down. To the point I was dry heaving. My little body had no more liquids inside 😩 thank you baby Jesus that my test results came back negative🙏🏼 but I did lose my dad to colon cancer two months prior my colonoscopy 😔
As someone with Crohn’s, always always always have a chaser after each drink. I usually take a sip then alternate between ginger ale, Gatorade, lemonade or a juice. It helps TREMENDOUSLY
My only suggestion would be to drink the prep with a straw, and you don't get the yuck flavor on all taste buds. Everyone should take care and do these. Way to go!
I haven't done it yet but my dad did his a few weeks ago and legit as soon as he swallowed the last of his water he was heading to the bathroom and we didn't see him again for about an hour.
I've got a story .....back in the mid 90's I had a colonoscopy done awake. Kaiser was cheap and didn't offer me milk of amnesia so it was horrible and painful. And afterwards I had the worst flatulence 😮😮😮🤦♀️🤦♀️🤦♀️...as my doctor said welcome to getting older.
The battery acid pre-cleanse drink is EASILY the worst part - although entertaining… The procedure itself is a breeze and yes, the best nap you’ll have!
. colonoscopy day you can get dropped off via uber or Lyft and CAN leave in one you just cant leave in the vehicle alone. and YES that drink is horrible but having colon cancer is even worse. do it everyone. its worth it.
I had one last year and they discovered I had cancer. I'm cancer-free now, but I encourage everyone to get it as soon as you can. I was younger than when people usually get it. I've had to drink that thing a couple of times this year because of my treatment. I recommend everyone use a straw when they have it. Less chance that you get it to coat your tongue. It's not so bad in the beginning, but by the end of your time drinking it, it gets really old. I was like you, I stood up for drinking the thing. It just helped me. The doctor who did my colonoscopy flat out told me that I had cancer after I woke up because it was a huge mass. Might not have been the bedside manners, but I appreciated the honesty. My sister drove me to get my colonoscopy. She was deciding what we were going to eat for lunch after I was finished. When I got in the car, my sister told me there was a Hawaiian place that looked like they had good Korean wings when I told her that I had cancer. It was kinda surreal. I had an endoscopy about a year before and they told me I should get a colonoscopy, but I put it off because I was going on a big trip. They gave me a picture of my tumor when I was done. I had surgery to remove the mass a month later and then I had chemo after that. Thanks so much for the video! And I agree, colonoscopies are not that bad, when the alternative is cancer that is not caught until it is too late. I love all your Disney videos and I'm so glad I can go back to the parks now.
I had mine not long ago. Apple juice helped a lot for me. The stuff I had to drink was called Gavilyte, and you have to drink more than a gallon of it in a short period of time. I would take a sip of apple juice, down a cup of the stuff, then take another sip of apple juice after, and it really helped with the bad taste. Except for the IV, the actual procedure was completely painless - they put me under, and when I woke up it was all done. I was still a bundle of nerves though.
I just started the video, but if there isnt a reference to you being Mr. Cheezypoop I’m going to be disappointed 😂 all jokes aside, had my first one last year at 36 and I wish they had warned me how difficult it would be afterwards to return to “normal”.
Love the video and want some tips on starting a vlog channel for me and Michael are thinking of moving to Florida just us together someday and I go to the doctor some times and want to meet you some day at Disney land in this summer
