The San Diego Rescue Mission believes in the inherent worth of every homeless man, woman, and child.
Our mission is to spread the good news of salvation through Christ by serving the needs of the poor, addicted, abused, and homeless, thus improving the quality of their lives.
Our programs provide the rehabilitation and discipleship that allow us to achieve this mission, leading to positive, lasting change -- and creating better lives for those we serve, their families, and the community as a whole.
November will be a year since I left my island in the San Diego River. Not the one under the 5. I lived on an island for about 4-5 years behind the Crown Plaza. Yeah, the same Crown Plaza that was housing immigrants instead of Veterans or elderly homeless, paid for by you, the tax payers. I am actively contributing to homeless population decrease, as I am now indoors and so very grateful to have a job. The man made some great points. It's not a secret that drug addiction keeps people in perpetual homelessness, and camping bans are only going to increase drug abuse. From my own experience with multiple arrests of encroachment and illegal lodging, the constant having to be on the move to avoid police contact exacerbated my drug addiction. I would increase my meth usage to stay awake because you go jail if you get caught sleeping. Even sitting down on a curbside is a trip to jail. I spent 8 years or so on the streets and I have noticed that every single story I heard was of severe trauma, which leads to a cycle of self medication. But there are those who love the great outdoors. I mean I have to admit it's a very different world that allows freedoms the housed can't experience, and truth be told, there are times I miss being on my island. I miss the sounds of nature, and the serenity. I miss my ducks following me around and I miss my hummingbirds eating from my hand and how they would come in my tent to buzz around my head because their feeders were empty.

We don’t have homeless problem we have drug problem. Study shows More than 85% of homeless are druggies and alcoholics so why help them if they don’t want to help themselves. Why I have to work and pay their lazy ass while they are sitting around the corner using drugs and u want me to support their habit while I work 80- 100 hours per pay period to support myself. BS I don’t feel bad for them

I helped the homeless for years The ones who never grew up and did not tried to work and be productive Just think about alcohol and drugs and welfare ect. They should be round up and put to sleep. If my dog was running around loose pissing and craping and looking for hand outs they would be put to sleep.

CHURCH & SAT DOWN 1ST IN FRONT THEN HIS OWN CHURCH MEMBERS PASSED HIM LIKE HE WAS NOTHING.. NOT EVEN A HELLO OR ARE U OK ETC... THEN.. HE WAS NOT EVEN ONCE INVITED INSIDE THE CHURCH.. SO HE GOES IMSIDE ANYWAYS & PICKS RANDOM SEATS & HE'S TOLD 2 MOVE ETC OR SIT ELSEWHERE ETC WOW.. SO HE SITS IN THE BACK & OBSERVES ALSO STANDS 2 TALK.. & HE IS LOOKED DOWN ON & WITH RUDE DIRTY LOOKS & LAUGHED AT & TALKED ABOUT.. AS HE MOVES HIS WAY UP 2 THE FRONT.. HE IS SOOOO SHOCKED & DISAPOINTED HOW HIS OWN CHURCH PEOPLE BEHAVED.. some of their testimonies how they "helped" people.. he then says "really?" "but when i was in front or came in this wasnt the case at all from anyone of u here.." says the pastor.. what people didnt..know.. was.. he had hired some people 2 do some special effects/makeup etc to make himself look like a whole other random person.. so while he was done saying what he did.. how he was shocked & not happy with how the church reacted.. he then began 2 peal off the makeup etc that had make him look different.. once they knew, the church people were like omg it was the pastor who we acted this rude way 2.. they bowed their COWARD ass heads.. wow.. THEY SHOULD.. BECAUSE NO 1 IS PERFECT & NO 1 CAN SIT UP IN HERE & SAY THEY NEVER HAD THINGS HARD OR DIDNT STRUGGLE.. IF U DO SAY U NEVER HAVE.. -UR A LIAR... EVERYONE HAS STRUGGLED IN THEIR LIFE.. EVERYONE HAS UPS & DOWNS.. U THINK WHILE UR STUCK UP ASS NOSE IS POINTED IN THE AIR THINKIN U PERFECT WHEN UR NOT.. THAT SOMEONE SECERTLY NOT JUDGING U?-THEY ARE... WHO ARE U 2 JUDGE ANYONE? WHEN U 2 HAVE STRUGGLED & HAVE STRUGGLES... ONLY GOD CAN JUDGE.. NO 1'S PERFECT.. WE ALL MAKE MISTAKES.. WE ALL HAVE STRUGGLES.. The problem is the birth rate..... more people less resources let's take care that problematic and ignorance. ....or they can bearing children as many as they want and someone else feeds them ....Welfares !
