So are British cars in general just junk? McLarens always have problems, so do Ranger Rovers, you're saying Lotus is the same? If that's the case, British cars being problematic seems to be the case.
Any issues with the front windshield condtantly fogging up or the interior starting to rattle? I've heard those complaints more than once. Wanting to pull the trigger one one but want to know what im getting myself into.
Anyone can change it. They'll run masking tape down the pillars, along the roof etc. A company that cuts out and replaces windshields all day is going to give you much less risk of damage. The person that does it at Lotus probably rarely replaces a windshield. He could've worked at a Windshield replacement/repair company, though. So it's possible someone at Lotus might be really good at it.
@@fnkdrspok7181 yes I debated on that my Emira has Alcantara seats because they just look better. While I don't like it and prefer suede it's the option I picked
I have a (used) 2018 Evora 400 - took delivery of it May 2024. No warranty, had about 19,000 miles on it, and I'm the 4th owner. Am I crazy? Nope. Although Lotus cars are known for having issues - most are small and niggly. I had my engine light come on about 300 miles after I bought it - I went through the owner's manual, tried to figure out what happened, thought I'd made a big mistake buying it. I found in the owner's manual one sentence that says (not verbatim) "after you fill your fuel tank ensure you turn the fuel cap until you hear it click "at least" 3 times". I went out, turned my fuel cap 5 times - drove the car several miles and on the 3rd start the problem resolved itself and it has not come on since. These cars are still somewhat hand-built and quirky - but - there is nothing on sale today that is better to drive than a Lotus.
EVAP codes. I hate that shit. I bought a Miata several years ago that has chronic CEL. It has a bad canister. I don't live in a county that does emissions checks, so I've never fixed it, and I'm not going to. It's not dangerous for "this" particular engine so I say F**K it. I just plug my reader in every now and then to see if another code besides PO4- whatever to check if something else may need attention. If I knew how to do it, I'd just flash the fault codes for EVAP out of my system. I don't even need that shit where I'm at.
@@chrisedge5007 Lol. Go find an Elise that has dropped in value without being totaled. Those GD things are like a guaranteed stock fund. I've been after an Elise for twenty years. No such thing as a bargain there, like EVER.
This car is too old for you now that you have the Emira. Time to get rid of it... PM me (serious). Also, I'm confused as to why you have to send your car all the way down to Naples when you have a dealer in DC and Philly?
DC is a new so I emailed them to make an appointment. Guess they did not care for my business as they never responded. I am thinking of selling it but unsure. The evora seems to be more of a racer then emira.
@@v317865 I guess you're right! There is no way to do that. So you will need to send me an email at theclutch@outlook.com or I can send you a note via LinkedIn.
I was looking for Emira content and this was a waster of ~ 6min. Omgosh you got a CEL ..... I have 2 other brand new cars that cost more than the Lotus and they also had a CEL. Stuff happens and while not ideal, these machines are super complicated nowadays. Sometimes rando CELs comes on but if cleared then they disappear. To even bring up the tire situation in your 'update' is not even relevant. You can go to any number of quality tire centers that will do it, its not like these wheels are special like Carbon Fiber with special fitting. Cmon. If you have a cracked windshield and you said you saw it but didn't want to think anything of it ... that is 100% on you hoping it would go away ??? The PPF wrap is the installers fault. and the trunk issue has been known so just close hard. Don't mean to be harsh but you seem over reacting to some small items. Hope everything gets resolved though
My mate here in the UK has one , and he's had no probs at all. It's a bloody great car. His other car is a fair bit slower...a 1969 army Land Rover. I know which one I like driving in.
Just got back from a 2000ml road trip with my year old Emira through France . Now reached 5000mls on the clock. No problems apart from phone not connecting to apple play straight away sometimes. Never had such attention and happy smiling people looking at my Emira.
I feel for you, been in a similar situation with my new Porsche Cayman GTS. At 332 miles and one month old it threw a check engine light and went into limp mode. I had it towed to the dealer and they couldn't find anything wrong so they reset and sent me home. Thankfully it hasnt come back now at 3k miles and enjoying the drives. Hopefully just a one time glitch for you too!
When you put the battery tender on, you can trigger the latch so it turns off the trunk light. Then reset it with the little latch in the side of the locking mechanism. Dealer showed me it the other day! 😉 Another thing is trying a LiFePo4 battery? I'm thinking of getting one. Its costly but people on LT seem to say it has eliminated or at least reduced the battery tending.
What I've been hearing when I called Lotus a couple of years ago. It really depends on the builder. I've had mine without a trickle charge for 2 months and it started right up. Also the light bulb and gas door are independent issues from builders on the vehicles. Thank goodness I haven't had problems besides the sub par brake switch that seems flimsy.
@@chugchug5657 wow, so you can have the battery last more than a week? Do you lock your car? I leave mine unlocked and on the charger. I wonder if locking the car would help
@@v317865 4-5 days that's nuts. My Evora has 0 draw issues thankfully. It can stay parked in the garage for weeks and start right up when i want it too. There has to be a fix for that. I did some searching for you on the lotus forums but there are tons of different suggestions for various issues. I will say, my cab lights stayed on once even after i closed the doors and walked away. I came back and hour or so later and noticed the dash and interior glow was still on. Maybe radio, amp or even the rear hatch lights you removed could be on when you leave the car. Might be worth the time to just run a multimeter on all the fuses to see if any are drawing power with the car off and key away from you. Wish you luck either way, just found your channel, glad to see some more lotus content on youtube. :)
So many haters that dont know anything about lotus. Nobody wants a Porsche they are buying this car for its bargain its looks and exclusiveness. Porsches vettes etc etc u see everyday im glad the haters who say buy a Porsche etc etc are saying that bc means the emira will be more rare
We were just at the Naples Lotus dealership two days ago. We specifically went to look at the Emira. I am surprised at how much better the car looks in person!
I got a white evora 400 4 months ago and I love it. The steering wheel is a disaster.. I have a leather and alcantara mix on mine. The leather is sticky and the alcantara is spongy and gross. I will be looking at replacing the steering wheel! I have the lowr end audio unit so this will also be replaced during winter. I noticed the limp mode is reset in 5 mins. Turn off the car and lock the doors, unlock and voila. I had a dirty maf sensor and it threw it in limp mode until I cleaned it.
Yes the new steering wheel makes the world of a difference I would highly recommend the company that I used. The carbon fiber steering wheel made the car a different car I can't tell you how much I love the steering wheel. The emira steering wheel is actually nicer but maybe they copied the new steps to the evora as well. I'm going to be putting a lot of carbon fiber on my Emira and we'll be making a new video soon
I have had my Emira 3 months and had a CEL come on within the 2nd day. It was code U0416 which was a Power train system code for "invalid data received from control module". Reset it and never seen again and I am at 1500 miles. Also had to get the HVAC fan resistor replaced at about 600 miles. Also, got a CEL for the EVAP canister which is a known issue. Does not affect driving and parts are on order. Car is fun, just has these minor gremlins which can be frustrating, but hopefully they are going away as I address them.
www.gregsraceparts.com/collections/evora-carbon-fiber-parts. Take a look at one of my shorts it has the emira steering wheel it is even nicer than the evora steering wheel
Happy to see that you got yours finally, beautiful vibrant color!👍🏻 How much was the cost for your full PPF at your area! I am in CA and delayed my delivery by 3 weeks because of Lotus’s error to add tint which I did not choose! The Lotus Emira truly looks very aggressive and sexy in person as you mentioned!😎👍🏻
I think it was about 9k but that is a full wrap and Ceramic as well. Car is great but it had to go back to the dealership in FL and I am in MD. Cracked windshield.
