CB Radio has became a huge part of my life since about a year and half. I still look at my self as a very very big beginner. I just jumped into it and dived into it head first and have learned so much about it in such a short amount of time. I can't see my self putting this hobby down anytime soon. This Channel consist of Videogates/Watergates of different times during Skip/Ground Wave Skip, & just normal ole Ground Wave. It's always fun to look back on all of these fun memories.
I also construct these little NOS Boxes that boost RF through the wire if you understand that lingo lol. It's a hobby, not a business but I love doing it and I am learning more and more as time goes on.
I will NEVER QUIT LEARNING! That is how I will always improve. I will NEVER BECOME THE BEST! Being humble will allow PRIDE NOT to defeat me!
If anyone has any questions on anything I am on gmail and my first part is ThreeManPro so you should know how to use that :)
What was rattling around inside the litter modulator and God I hope the owner stayed with the Toshiba final over the 1446. I know lots of people like 1446 finals but I've never had good luck with them. Four amps with those and all 4 would drop watts like a waterfall with in a few minutes.
I did this exact trick to my radio but my talk back volume doesn’t work on the variable but you are still able to switch it off anyone know what that could be?
@@1883GotDown Man I would love to have a couple of these on my Texas Star amps. But I know I would muck up the installation of I tried to do it myself.
Them handy to have . Just a extra relay in amp for the fans will take the current off remote wire. easy to do. Watch BBI on latest Byrd 43 meter. Byrd going digital in same case and reads right on with true PEP and RMS power. 73
Seems strange to request having SSB on all the time. It would seem simple enough to just keep the button pushed in all the time. At least you still have the option to use other modes (like 10M FM). It would be interesting to see the input tune and output power of each frequency at 25.000, 26.000, 27.000, 28.000, and 29.000 to see how it does. Cheers! How's the pet slug doin by the way? 😆
Lol lol That pet slug is in slug heaven if I remember correctly lol lol lol.... Yeah we'll it would still work with FM just fine just will have that slight delay even on AM thr delay is not noticeable much at all. Just enough to notice that it is working. But I agree with you just keep it pressed in. Thinking back maybe I should have added a switch to disenge auto ssb like that. Good idea on the swr I should have thought about that... I can always put it back on the bench real quick and do another video 📹
You have answered so many of my questions in one great video. I got back into the world of 11 meters after a 25-year absence. I appreciate yoy taking the time to make this video for us. I tend to spend more time on ssb than am. I used to run mostly tube amplifiers. I have been reading more lately about 1x4 2x6, etc, which is all new to me. Getting s 6 b bias is probably the way ill end up buying. Is 6 ab bias really worth the extra money? From my understanding, what you say is the smart way for me since i want more wattage? Also, if i choose to drive it higher, i can get more power. Am i correct? My max output is 70 peak. 2x6 wow, they can put out some power without the room heating up because of tubes. I really again appreciate you breaking for me. Thank you You explain better the my A school in the Navy for Avionics. LoL
Nice re tune. I have a DX 500 4 level one. And it has goot tune at 28.000 Mhz so I left it. only drops a tad on 11 meters and drops again at 29 MHz . It does drop a lot at 12 meters . I don't use it their. I do use it 28.074 Mhz. The Tech part SSB is 28.3 to 28.5 . wanted center of that. I have a low pass filter on mine. I also have band pass filters . 15/20 meters. some day I get 17 meter/30/12/40/80 maybe 60 meter filters. haven't needed them and costly. I have the MFJ low pass filter and a RM Italy one. does the job. I took out my keying transistor and delay cap. PTT only. They have PL 259 for RG 316. Haven't used them yet. I do have some that go right on RG 400 and 8X and POTA flex 6 coax. M & P has great PL 259 in many sizes. I got the 7 mil ones as well. Best PL 259 I have found. For short runs RG 316 DS is great . I got MIL spec RG 58C/U . That good for short runs as well. ABR and M & P both have RG 58C/U . I have the stuff made for the british military. It is red . 1 UK seller has it. I have that Stinger wire. nice wire. My spool is OFC 10 AWG . They have outher sizes. 73
Hey gatekeeper got me a courier conquerer ll 40d..it's surprised me. It was like new. It has modules like a Royce or sparkomatic... U ever worked on one? Anyway good to see back
Yes but this is why I twist the power wires together really well and solder them completly. If someone disconnected them and ran only 1 wire it would be a rare occurrence I would think. The 10 years I have been doing this I haven't heard of anyone doing this. Not saying it don't happen. I really like talking the person into allowing me to add connectors to each wire and adding a quick connect to them.
@@1883GotDown good idea and sounds like you have it covered. I was thinking of the end user and some of the things we've all seen....wire nuts, black tape and worse. Lol
Hey dont know if youll see this but I have the exact same amp (bought from roostercb in tn), I cant find any others alike online, do you know if it was made by fatboy or someone else? and what year it was manufactured?
Love all your videos but you used to post stuff that was helpful to build or repair amps. Lately it's been all about selling and exchanging transistors. Would love to see some of the OLD Gatekeeper back again.
wow now you are speaking my language brother , I have been into interfacing radios with , things like arduino and RPI , and pc's for a while now. Love this setup ! I have similar boards all over 73
Nice... it worked great man ran it for 7 days 24/7 with no issues at all. Put on a tunner and even ran ft8 on 12m gor a day and it worked great man! Now I just need to remake it on a real board and make it smaller so I can mount the radio and get my a computer 🖥 put up close to it so it csn be doing it's things... I'm at over 100k contacts on ft4/ft8 for the last 4 years lol
Hay man i was playin around tryin to do this . Anyway i got mad at it and tossed it off to the side ,that was about i guess a yeat ago. Oh i was tryin to use a rspberry pi 4 to do this with a sinal link usb on gmrs and zello. Needless to say i got my ass handed to me. Anyway . I would like to know if your planning to fit this to a box . I would love to buy one. Great video. I am very interested.
Yes I'm planning to do a professional board using 600:600 isolation transformers and all. I habe a buddy that got one working on zello perfect and I can connect to his zello and talk on his radio
