So proud that I first hear this work right here. You have carried the fire with class and verve. FYI I've read that material for this came from S's work on newsreel soundtracks, and that his first impressions of NYC were the inspiration - not to mention constant requests that he do something having the power of The Rite Of Spring.
In terms of technique/execution, pianists don't have to follow composer's instructions. What I'm wondering is if she plays all the cluster notes. From the sound, I think she is in which case some fingers must be on the gaps (very difficult). Palm would certainly make it easier.
This has only 12K views?! Where are the music lovers of this world?😢😢😢 Maybe you don't know: you have to play it all the way through for the view to count. No dipping here and there.
Complimenti Maestro Luca, musica sapida, sorgiva, dove anche i silenzi sono suoni significativi. BRAVISSIMO. E complimenti agli esecutori, molto concentrati e coinvolti.
Excellent performance. Slightly slower than most pianists but this works well as it gives more time to hear the weird and wonderful things going on in Rautavaara's score.
Goodnight! How does this have only 11,000 views?!?! Spectacular! It gives me hope for the future of classical music! In an age when it seems that the only "legitimate" classical music has to be dissonant and ugly, this is a breath of fresh air- brilliant is an understatement!
Thank you, will do! Also check out thieir contemporary "answer" to Bach's piece, Cocoa Cantata: ru-vid.com/video/%D0%B2%D0%B8%D0%B4%D0%B5%D0%BE-nlC3osTsc1M.html
Looked this up while deciding whether to hear the Dior Quartet's performance with it in NYC in May - and the answer is a resounding Yes! I really like the piece, and what a fabulous performance!
Four years and no comments? This performance was incredible! What a difficult, yet beautiful piece by Aaron Copeland, who I saw perform live in 1975 (hey, that rhymed!) Vocals are pristine, and the accompanist has such a great touch/interpretation of this. Super congrats to you both!
