"Age of Craft" company has been dealing with the production of high-quality hand crafted armor suitable for historical full contact fighting reenactment for many years.
Our armor is produced in accordance with the technology of armor manufacturing of olden days. At the same time, all the armor meets the safety and authenticity requirements of the HMB World Championship "Battle of the Nations".
Wrist articulation would be helpful. Can't wield a shield well with the flared wrist cuff unless the hand could move independently from the wrist cuff.
Question, why does thw belows face viaor have those ridges? I mean its called bellows face because of the shape but what i ment is ita intended purpose.
Maybe Im wrong but it seems like the large front plates do not overlap at the centre join. In fact the entire central join from top to bottom seems like a huge vulnerability that could be exploited by a determined probing stab from a piercing weapon. Like I say, maybe Im wrong but from what I can see, it looks that way.
Your guys' mitten gauntlets are far stronger and more sturdy long lasting design, than that of the overrated hema spes lobster gauntlets. I love the one I bought on Amazon. www.amazon.com/Medieval-Functional-Reenactment-Gauntlets-Mitten/dp/B076CS7VB6
The cinch at the waist is meant to take some of the weight from your shoulders, thus lowering your centre of gravity and easing long term wear. These seem to barely cinch at all at the waist. I am wondering if these are made for overweight people, or whether you guys aren't aware that the tight almost extreme cinch has a technical purpose?
bashpr0mpt I think they modeled it to fit the type of gambeson he's wearing with seems really fluffy and doesn't have the cinch. There is coat of plates that aren't as hourglasses shaped as others too, they probably just modified their own Frankenstein version.
I am guessing these are not historical. Are they? Also I think it might be safer if the overlap went the other way. It looks like a thrust towards the hand could slip between the lames.
First of all buhurt-optimized gauntlets, and we tried to make them "authentic-looking". Safety is first importance. As to the overlap - just look at other HMB gauntlets - the direction is the same.
I am looking at other gauntlets and most seem to run the other way and the ones that don't use plate to plate riveted articulation to stop gaps opening up.
I have a pair of these, they are amazing. They're light, well padded, the articulated plates are very well put together and it fits just like a glove, pun intended. When I got them to my club we just took turns hitting my hands every way could with a longsword to simulate a fight, and I didn't feel a thing. The only thing I see as a downside to the design is that the domed rivets can get sheered off if his at the right angle. Also the two outside fingers are a little tight on the articulation, but I've found that no great hindrance to holding a longsword with two hands. That being said, while there is no truly perfect design for fight gloves, these wisby gloves are perfect enough, especially for the price.
Thank you for the great vid. The Gauntlets look fantastic. Do you ship Internationally? I live in Australia. Really like your Gambeson where can I get one of those?
