I lightly discs and planted sunn hemp, buckwheat , last spring and came thru with a 60/40: pea/oats blend this fall on a 2000 yard piece of highline ROW for deer hunting. The sunn hemp terminated the ROW weeds by shading them out and left a good nitrogen boost...The buckwheat brought bees! sun flowers came from some where ..guess birds ...The pea/oats are thriving till a light frost in east Texas hurt them a little..I was thinking of adding turnips/radishes for hard pan break up and other tubers..Do you have a recommendation. I don't graze..Started working offshore and put a stop to cattle ambitions for now .
Hello! A 50-30-30 fertilizer was applied and the oats yielded about 75 bu/ac. They were hoping for more, but think that hot, droughty conditions contributed to the lower yield. Thank you!
