I've heard a lot of peoples undoing is the crowds at the beginning. I think people think they'll be for the first km or so, but they go on for hours. Thankyou for sharing this video, very inspirational!
May I ask what happened? you were looking strong! I'm glad to hear that despite the DNF you enjoyed the race. Best of luck to you, and good work for putting yourself out there and giving your best.
Thanks! It was a mix of a couple of things that made it rough, but the main issue were my quads blew out about 25 miles in. I could barely walk the downhills. Which was surprising as I trained in the mountains, a lot. Other issues (though manageable): barely any sleep / jetlagged going into the race. Heat / Hydration. Nausea. Definitely went out too hard for the first 10k but the crowds were just too amazing 😅
I was there with you on the day, also stopped at 96k (stops writing and stares into the middle distance) a very hard day but we did it ! New subscriber here 👍
You did a great job. You really can be proud. I was on the last downhill in the dark and it was a pure hell and felt more like survival than trail running.
To me the last 10 km section into Koppl already felt like that 😂 Congrats on the finish!

Hey, don't worry about you couldn't do the race until the end. I finished it, but it don't felt like "yeah"! In the end it was so cold and it felt more than a survival trip! The most important thing in that race was that no one get hurt on this day. All the best for Charmonix, Hannes
You can be really proud!! As someone who also took part in the race (finished in 16h:39), I know how bad the conditions were. Anyone who chose to keep going and refused to quit, did an amazing job!!!
