Hey Bradyac! 🧠I’m Dee a.k.a Dee Brady and I’m a marketing and creative brand strategist who also specialize in PR! Join me on my out of the box journey as I build my own business guiding fellow out of the box thinkers to finding their personal brands and marketing successfully but in a dope way. Although I’m giving tips/advice to the creative professional “underdogs,” and experimenting new and dope branding and marketing tools, I’m opening up about my personal growth on this journey as well.
Background about me: I’m originally from Brooklyn, NY, but Florida is where I spent a good chunk of my life. 28, a Leo. Graduated from THEE Florida A&M University spring 17.’ Earned my degree in Public Relations. Turned down a media sales corporate job to pursue a career in the music industry. Interned and worked for a record label for 4 years which resulted in me finding my purpose in now building my own business and platform becoming an entrepreneur!
It's never been about after it's always been about money. True artists have always been independent. Look at big names like Kiss, they all are near death, yet they just solidified the next 30-40 years of their careers digitally.
@@akeem2752 you’re talking about KISS the rock band from the 70s? They don’t own their publishing or recording royalties but the creativity all around set them a part and they became iconic. To this day you’ll see creative inspo or partnerships (Liquid Death Water just did one). Creativity or creative independence brought the money and longevity. Business wise money is the focus for sure but for todays acts, we go off of what is trending, everyone following the same so its a short lived stardom viral moments and then move on to another. Creative professionals who got fired now have more freedom to work with independent Artists and maybe bring back that creative independence while fans simultaneously go back to caring more about the quality experiences and more music platforms come up supporting independent Artist, etc., we’ll start seeing acts that can possibly have an iconic run like KISS
@@Deebradyology that's exactly what I mean. But they just signed a deal in the last 2 years for animated licensing including tours and movies. My point is the merchandising, royalties, and licensing had always been the backbone of the music industry, the same as with Hollywood. Back in the early days of the recording industry they would create superstars using other peoples music and still do. In the last 20 years however there has been a shift. Every individual can now be an independent label. And artists are no longer limited to just their respective crafts they can go from writing r&b to a wrestling superstar. Creativity isn't going anywhere and neither is capitalism. Everything is worth something and everything is art, even this conversation we're having is artistic. The problem is where do the artists find the resources? If it's not coming directly from them whoever is funding them in the end usually has 90% of the say in how that artist functions. Look at what just happened with Lil Yachty and that female rapper he been getting into it with. She's not a genuine artist, he created her style, her lyrics and her popularity. What's my point in that? The next generation will be artists owning other artists rights.
@@akeem2752 I agree! And yes creativity and capitalism isn’t going anywhere of course but this is why behind the scenes you have creative professionals and professionals who only care about numbers. We’re talking about Artists being independent which is a given but they need the creative professionals who work hard behind the scenes who understands the duality of both creativity and capitalism to make the Artist life easier. A lot of those creative professionals are building platforms to support more independent Artist and give them a fair chance to build their own community and get more resources until they are able to have leverage when signing a deal that benefits them. Creative professionals such as creative marketers, Strategists, Publicists, etc. that we do not see are partially the reason for positioning Artists to have brands that makes them able to have those bigger opportunities outside of just their music. Which is why an Artist like Victoria Monet highlights her manager so much. So i’m not talking about Artists here, im talking about the genuine hard working creative professionals who fight behind the scenes for these artist who understands the duality of it all that pushes the needle at labels who are comfortable just following behind trends like a lot of these brands/companies. These are the people being fired who are also now going to be able to build more to help not just Artists but usher in more young creative professionals & teach them transparently
@@Deebradyology I agree with all that. I think that some of the top tier artists that have the capabilities to achieve these things lose sight of the journey that got them to where they are. They too evolve into the CEO that no longer creates ot knows how to communicate to the public that follow. Some become the worst kind of troll like gate keepers. Joe Budden himself has moments as an elder in both hip hop and podcasting where his status and opinions as an owner/CEO can directly affect the outcome of another artist/employee under him or in the same social/professional circles as him. It's akin to how people have said Shannon Sharp is trying to ttrst Ocho like Skip treats him.
Omg I just came up with this idea and wondered if someone else thought about it too and that's how I found your video. I'm obsessed hahaha, love it so much. Thanks for sharing!
@@tenacious-e3o Ahh! Heyyy Leo ganggg! 🌟🌟👑 So i’ve done both marketing directing and creative directing. This right here though is me speaking towards the marketing strategy. So for this i would work with a creative director to put the visual concept together and they would add to it visually and make it come to life because creative directing is more than having a vision and putting a mood board together lol Creative directing is also under marketing so we work hand in hand. Because i got my degree within the school of journalism where i was able to do design and work with cameras while learning business, i was able to blend everything together when i worked at a label to help Artists not only do marketing plans but help give directors the vision of what we’re going for and they would add to it and make it come to life. So in my videos you’ll probably hear me give advice that pertains to an array of different things that falls under the umbrella of marketing since im multifaceted
this mixtape definitely showed her potential, can’t wait for more music and looks from her. she definitely did her thing with the city cinderella aesthetic.
thank you! i love meg but i had higher expectations of her for this album, especially because it’s self-titled. you literally put words to what i’ve been feeling. (btw the leading single for the album was cobra, not hiss) 🩵
Lyrically, it could’ve been better and some fat could’ve been trimmed off, but it’s a solid project in my eyes. I was born and raised in Dade county, so I definitely appreciate her using the Miami sound throughout the project. Also, I get more Jacki-O than Trina from JT. Side note: Dauntless Manifesto is my favorite project from the rap girlies so far this year. Cupcakke ain’t have to snap like that 😂
@@ChaChaWitYa Ahh okay, yeah i’ve heard the comparisons to Jackie-O as well and it makes complete sense. I agree. Trina’s career longevity & impact is the goal though as far as being well known in not only her region but others as well. && i havent listened to Cupcakke lol ngl but i’ll give it a shot lol
It would make sense and she already has experience making short movies with Hottie ween. But kill bill has been over done. An anime like Black Lagoon would be more fitting.
Megan and her team expected to be a success based off sympathy so they never bothered to market the best way, sympathy and payola can only last for so long.
I feel like since SZA already had that kill bill concept in one of her music videos people would’ve say Megan copied her , so in a way to avoid any backlash I get it.
But she couldn’t do anything like that because if you know how her career went, she’s actually been the one to do the betrayal She’d be better if she was an anime villain
@@Deebradyology correction- Megan ain’t independent if she signed with Warner and managed by Roc Nation. I mean we really have Russ and Tinashe here. Meg ain’t in the same category is what I am trying to say 🎀
@@virajgahlot7062 … Lol again, Google is a search away for all 3 of the Artists you mentioned who have/ has distributed through companies. She is independent with the rarest deals in the industry. I worked at a label. Thank you.
@@Deebradyologycompared to an emerging artist making music out they bedroom, with maybe one manager and no big management or distribution, no, she’s not independent. The industry terminology and semantics is obfuscation. She has support, corporate, conglomerate support. Not fully signed like Doja maybe, but she definitely has industry support a lot of other independent artists do not have.
@@commandery3574 Independence comes in different forms, not just you by yourself doing everything. You can be independent and still get some backing from a label for distribution and other services while funding other things yourself like Meg is doing. Also Independence doesnt mean you have to struggle by yourself, you can get help from other creatives and creative networks that support independence such as Audiomack
