Hi, after creating the Object Type I get an error saying "Missing Base Axis System" even though I have Position as input. It seems the same error happened during the video in minute 12:16. How can I solve this? When I go back to the model and add the Window OT it does not show and I confirmed it wasn't hidden.
Did you use the Building & Civil Assemblies application and the Define Component command to make the 'Base Axis System' publication? Watch from 8:26 and make sure you follow the steps exactly.
@@CATIAAEC Yes I did.... I was able to solve the issue just by renaming the axis system as "Base Axis System". Many thanks! PS: are there any tutorials for creating slab object types? I'm currently trying the same procedure as the one shown in Appendix 1 but I guess it must be a different one...
Please have a look at the corners.. in real life the panels might be fiber plasterboards that are finished with wall putty..This means that the outside corners aren't correct. (The ends of the walls have no "panels". I don't know how to solve this.. but, you can instantiate framing according to the wall volume. Panels can't be added to individual walls and must be applied to the "combined" walls. How would you solve this..?
Thanks for the comment! In this video I didn’t go to that level of detail for the sake of simplicity. How I have done this in the past is to add a parameter to extend the finish from one wall past its end point to cover the exposed framing of the neighboring wall. I would also include an extend/reduce length parameter to control the overall wall length to allow for these types of modifications, which would have to be done after the detailed walls are instantiated into the model.
@@CATIAAEC, so it's more or less a manual process to correct the design after instantiation. Looking forward to work with this..Maybe the "Priority" can be used to control the parameters you mentioned.
I have a few questions, Is the structure of the UDF important or is it just the naming on the published paramter and outputs? Meaning you could name it correct when creating the UDF..? The parameter "PanelThicknes" is it mandatory to have it in the root parameter set..? If not then, you could have copied the Parameter set to your UDF Body. The leeds to an alternative method for copy/pasting your Ralation Set. If you after pasting delete the deactivated formular and then reorder the original you would use the same process as done copy/pasting a parameter set. It also gives me a security that it's the "right" formula/parameter i'm moving. With that said, for every UDF i make, start by creating a Geometrical set and rename it to Input. Here i create the inputs i need for my user features. I like the axis system method you show here, but sometimes other inputs might be required. Then i create my body(UDF) and create an empty Parameter set, Relation set and a geometrical set. Under relation i would have another set called Formulas, and then actions etc. The geo set i call References. Now i have a good and well organized structure to my UDF. Sorry for the long post.. 🙂
Hi, correct to all points! 1. The naming of the published parameters and/or outputs of the UDF is essential, those features inside the Geometrical Set could be anything but I like to keep them the same for simplicity. 2. No, this isn't necessary, you could absolutely move 'PanelThickness' inside the UDF set. Normally, I would also recommend moving the entire parameter set into the UDF Geometrical Set go keep things clearly organized. I would rename it 'Control Parameters' and make a second set called 'Reporting Parameters' that compute important values that need to be captured when those parameters change. However, for this simple example of a 'not-very-parametric' example I didn't go to level of detail. 3. Yes, I should have named the Geometrical Set containing the Position Axis System 'Inputs' and yes, most UDFs will contain many more, but for this example we are limited by what we can use for inputs for this Object Type. Thanks for the questions!
Whats the exact name of this software? Is it 3DEXPERINCE, CATIA, Concrete Structures 3D Design or something else? Where can I find this software to buy it?
The name of the software is 3DEXPERIENCE CATIA, the name of the application is Civil Structures Design, and the name of the role is Civil Designer. You can learn all about the CATIA roles dedicated to construction here: www.3ds.com/products/catia/construction
Whats the exact name of this software? Is it R2022, Catia, 3DExperience or Civil structure design? What does "FD02" mean? Where can I find this software on the web, can you provide me some link? What are the prices? Can you more videos on this software but in version 2023 or 2024 (if 2024 is already released)?
The name of the software is 3DEXPERIENCE CATIA, the name of the application is Civil Structures Design, and the name of the role is Civil Designer. R2022 is the release version and FD02 is the release version Function Delivery. This is an older video, we are now on R2024xFD01 (FD02 will be out next month). If you want to make custom stairs and railings, you will be best off using xGenerative Design or Visual Scripting, here is a short example showing how that could be modeled: ru-vid.com/video/%D0%B2%D0%B8%D0%B4%D0%B5%D0%BE-SWjKcBjBbX0.html&ab_channel=CATIADesignteam
The insertion of a document is great, but could it also be possible to place it on a surface, not just a plane ? I have a geological longitudinal profile to place along an alignment ?
The link should have brought you to the community homepage, that's not ideal. I've updated the link to go directly to the page with the supporting files.
thank you for putting these videos together! it is very useful for people/architects trying to work their way trough the fantastic capabilities of the platform
Thanks for all these super helpful videos! A question: what would be the most effective/efficient method to instantiate a simple volume, like a block onto a few hundred to thousands points anywhere in 3D space?
Hello at 15:43 I have a pb when i replace the input curves. The projection of the point on the inputsurface can't exist and the second geometrie isn't here. Why you didn't have projection issue ?
thank you ! and welcome to our 3DExperience. I think the best way is to contact our sales on 3ds.com, depending on where you stay, they'll find the closest way to reach you. Hope to talk to you soon !
