I'd use that to change the colour of the faded 24 y.o. aluminium siding around the house... I'm thinking it could be cheaper than having them changed plus those new colours are indeed very attractive!..🤩! Seen some of your other videos that I found inspiring...👍🏻 Very happy to have found you in the RECOMMENDED..🤗!

Are all of these semi gloss? I used full dead grass on a canoe and I was disappointed that it was matte. I’m having a hard time finding info on which colors are matte and which are gloss.
I've used EZ Poxy on a number of projects to include the topsides of my H-28 and the hull and interior of a couple of dinghys, with excellent results. The paint flows and tips out beautifully, and dries to a shiny smooth and durable finish. I like using it.
Thanks for video. Looking to do my 17 footer with same color. Can you specify the strainer type and the roller type with links from Amazon? I got some rollers already, but not sure if they are the same type. Also the foam brushes, are they special types? I dont have the Pettit thinner yet, can it be any store thinner?
It's important you use the Pettit thinner. 120 Brushing Thinner is a combination of 4 solvents to maintain the properties of the paint. Generic thinners can add contamination to the paint and/or lose properties of the paint.
In this video we didn't as we put the two coats on within 24 hours. The solvent in the product will allow the product within 24 hours to overcoat itself without the need for sanding. If you wait more than 24 hours or if your application is less than perfect, then you should scuff sand in between.
I just used this paint. I wanted to go with a 2 part paint, but found I didn't want to spend the extra money. I'm extremely pleased with your one part paint. It looks amazing with great shine!
No, this product is for professional spray application only. We make a product called EZ Poxy if you'd like to apply with a brush or roller. - pettitpaint.com/products/topside-paint-finishes/single-part-polyurethane/ez-poxy/
I don't know if the free sticker thing is still valid, but I'm getting ready to use all pettit products on my Olympic dolphin 23. I'm presently redoing the rudder, doing the upper teak portions of it with a combination of epoxy and flagship varnish. Shortly going to start a bottom job with pettit protract and then EZpoxy. Boat lives on a trailer so no need for anti-fouling.
This is a beautiful boat, and it looks great with its Black Widow bottom. That said, you guys need to make more videos on Black Widow. I just got my second coat of Pettit Protect on and am looking at getting Black Widow on very soon. Being that this is a DIY job with such an expensive can of paint, I would seriously appreciate more videos and instructional help applying this stuff. Thanks.
@@jaybrooks2502 It retails for around $500 a kit. Can absolutely be used on a truck. This marine grade product should work extremely well in that application. The product is currently available through West Marine.
I used this to fill in a gap between a fiberglass hatch bump out and the thin fiberglass skin on my old Born Free RV. It worked great, but within a week in full sun it yellowed. Could I coat it with an automotive clear coat to prevent it or do I have to prime and paint it with a color?
Epoxies yellow with UV exposure, we haven't tested a clear coat over it but it can certainly be painted. If you are looking for a gloss white, we have our new EZ Poxy White 3175 in aerosols. shop.hamiltonmarine.com/products/pettit-ez-poxy-white-20oz-aerosol-spray-60957.html
@@PettitPaint can this paint go over EZTex and the surrounding patched fiberglass directly or is a primer needed? What are the prep requirements? Can you tint the EZTex with it?
@@PettitPaint Also, is there a sample available or a color card I can use to compare to my RV's gel coat? My RV is white, but we all know there's plenty of different shades of white.
@@whitneyburnett952 EZ Poxy can go direct over EZ Tex. For small areas like the typical use for this product, primer might be more work than it is worth. here's a link to the color card - pettitpaint.com/media/5640/pettit-paint_2023-topside-paint-brochure_2-27-23_rev1_web.pdf
Shaking aerosols isn't at the top of everyones list of favorite things to do and many times we catch ourselves cutting corners. We know we should shake the can for 2 minutes but we are also all in a hurry. Prevent costly clogs with this aerosol hack! These shakers can be purchased here - shootingtargets7.com/products/spray-paint-can-shaker ShootingTargets7 is VETERAN owned and operated. Pettit® has no affiliation with this tool or company, just wanted to share a useful hack to improve productivity and prevent costly clogs from high solids products.
Um....the video shows a man pouring paint out of a Petit gallon. Really Blind??? Might be, but that kinda might say otherwise. Love your products though!!
Both gallons have an experimental non-market use Pettit label so that the folks using it have no idea which product is Pettit's or the competitors. 1:18 you can see the label on the front just has a number written in marker xp-2019.
Certainly, would work well for both. Just can't be submerged for more than a few days at a time. If the motor is tilted out of the water for storage, it would be a great use for it.
Hi I did 3 coats of rustlok on a extensively prepared steel floor of a truck only to find it not even lasting a winter. Is 3 coats really enough ? Would have 4 coats made a difference or do you need a specific top coat to finish the job?
Hello, it depends on the depth of the grinding. 3 coats may not have been enough if the product filled in the valleys but didn't get enough coverage on the peaks. Did you grind or sand? If sanded, what grit?
I have a few small spots on my boat where I need to add Pettit protect - I want to use two coats. May I measure out the two parts and if so what is the ratio. Thanks
Thinking about using this for my Jeep Wrangler frame underneath, what do you think? Can I top coat afterwards with any kind of aerosol black spray paint?
Absolutely, the product gets used for this application all the time! Apply a few coats of Rustlok and then apply the black spray paint while the Rustlok is still tacky.
Love Hydrocoat ECO paint - have used it for five years now and very satisfied with ease of application and results are great! I am wondering if I can change the color from BLUE to something like a grey or shark white color. Is there such a color in the Hydrocoat line?
Hi there, thanks for the feedback!!! Yes, you can take Hydrocoat ECO white and add Hydrocoat ECO black to it until you get the off white that you are looking for!
We have a 10' aluminum-frame rigid inflatable boat that stays in salt water for the entire season from April to October. I'd like to find a simple anti-fouling paint that I could use that would be effective at protecting both the aluminum hull and inflatable pontoons from mussels, algae and anything else that might build up on the boat over the course of the year... and that can be reapplied annually (if necessary) during the off-season while the boat is out of the water and stored on a trailer. Any guidance you can provide would be appreciated.
Hydrocoat Eco is the perfect product for that application. Scrub the tubes and the powder coat with our 92 Bio Blue and maroon nylon scuff pads, then apply the Hydrocoat ECO direct to the tubes. For the powder coat, we'd suggest sanding it with 80 grit sandpaper, then apply a coat or two of Pettit Protect followed by Hydrocoat ECO.
