Enjoy camping and the outdoors as much as I do? This is the channel for you! I will be cooking up some of my favorite campfire recipes and trying new ones too!
My cooking styles consist of dutch oven cooking, pie iron, foil packs, direct fire, and sometimes I will throw in some cooking on the Blackstone grill.
Cooking locations include my backyard and will consist of campsite cooking as well.
We started camping in our pickup camper at Bear creek Lake in 1969. It was $1 per night memorial through Labor Day and free the rest of the year. Now $35 an up. No charge for day use back then, now $7 / day during the week$10 on weekend days. I miss the good old days
Thanks for sharing your experience with the lodge. My friends and family tent camp there all the time. Next year we plan on staying in a lodge with extended family
FYI, don't use spray like Pam on the Pie Irons. They will get gummed up and then lose the nonstick. Then have to strip and reseason just like your pans. Butter or margarine.
I see they make a 19.5''& 25" Stainless steel Craftsman firepit and yes do make accessories for the Craftsman firepits like Grill plates, lids, covers etc. I bought the 19.5'' today along with the grill grate and lid. everything seems to fit very well.
Like many products these are mass produced with a brand label you don't by the stove you buy the brand. Is one any better than the other. What is a life time warranty any way
Instructions would be nice. I plan to use a section of foil cut from a dollar tree grill thingy. The thingy is about 12 x 16 so i can cut several pieces. That will keep food from dropping through. Then just throw the thingy piece away after cooking. What do you do with grits after stirring them.I looked up the redcamp stove. It looks more costly and more detailed. Maybe does more different things. Probably takes more room in a gear bag.i just plan to use the unigear stove for cooking steaks, etc. Small to stow in my camper.
I use wood pellets all the time in my solo stoves. They work well in my Ranger, Campfire, and Titan without any adapters. The difference I’ve noticed is there are more ashes left over without any adapters but other than that I always get nice clean secondary burn with or without adapters. To light my pellets I just pour a little lamp oil or denatured alcohol on top and light it. Both have lower flash point than using lighter fluid or camp fuel. Takes about 5 minutes for the pellets to light and for the secondary burn to start.
Nice! We’ve tried using the pellets before without an adapter and we weren’t very lucky. But perhaps it was a fluke. We’ve done with the adapter a few times now and really like it. Thanks for stopping by!
