I appreciate your intention to do good here but i ask - Please consult with a biologist and review more before trying to teach others how to do things like this. I'm sure most biologists in the States or wherever you are would agree with the following: In Canada/Alberta you cannot be putting fencing/large mesh size like that in a watercourse because you will likely trap/kill fish - a non compliance under the Federal Fisheries Act. Mesh size must be no more than 2.54mm in width. You cannot suck out substrate from a watercourse either. The sediment is naturally occurring. Your anthropogenic activities should not cause a significant increase in sediment in the stream (hence the need for turbidity monitoring - please review the CCME guidelines for this - it's what most use in Canada). And lastly, sediment/siltation does* affect fish (you stated it only affected incubating eggs). www.dfo-mpo.gc.ca/Library/240698.pdf <--skip to "Specific Effects of Sediment on Fish and their Habitat"

Trisha B aquatic habitat enhancements should always be reviewed by a fisheries biologist and applicable regulators. Just because a patent for an "environmental" product is approved does not mean it has been reviewed by the appropriate professionals...
