I became a 49er fan and 11 years old.The nineteen eighty one n f c championship game in super bowl sixteen started my journey as a forty nine fan for life
Stanley Wilson and Barret Robbins... two guys who screwed their teammates. For Tim Krumrie to lead the team in tackles as a Nose.... man, now that does not happen too often....
If John Ralston stays on as head coach of the Broncos for 3 more years through the 1979 season. Denver would have won a Superbowl !!!!!!!!!!!! Bronco players loved Ralston !!!!!!!! Red Miller ruined the Broncos in the late 1970's......The year they went to the Superbowl in 1977 that was really Ralston's team !!!!!!!!! Miller also ruined Otis Armstrong career......never used him right. 1974-1976 Armstrong was one of the best running backs in the NFL until Red Miller became head coach 1977 then #24 went right down the tube. Sad day when John Ralston and the Broncos parted ways !!!!!!!!!
You bronco fans need to be real. You only won the Super Bowl that year because you didn’t have to face my Niners if that would’ve happened you would have lost.
@15:19 And that's why you should never listen to the "draft experts". Montana (3rd round), Brady (6th round), Purdy (last pick in the draft). Being a great athlete and being a great football player are too entirely different things.
Randy Cross was a great player, but his opinions of the NFC east are way off the mark. The Landry cowboys won 2 championships in 28 years. America's team was offered to the Steelers before the cowboys lapped it up.
To date, still my favorite Broncos squad to date. No disrespect to Peyton and the No Fly Zone, love that team, but nothing beats watch this team live. Loved being a kid at this time.
Thank you for uploading this!! I had a copy of this when I was a kid (13yrs old that season)… I’m sure it disappeared when we made the switch to DVD back when. I’ve tried to find it a few times over the years, to no avail. This whole thing is so well done. Again, thank you for uploading!!
Dan Reeves deserves to be in the Hall of Fame (even posthumously), however here is a description of Reeves' coaching philosophy in Denver: Quarters 1-3, 4th quarter until five minutes left: "Let's run the ball and play the mosf boring football possible with a team that would be lucky to go 2-14, because that is what Tom Landry did. And if you disagree with me, I will take away your play-calling ability and/or draft Tommy Maddux in order to help the offense out as little as possible just out of spite." Less than five minutes left: "Okay, John, go win the game for us"
Thank you for a great video. A really fun time in history when pro sports was for everyone. How sad today that it's nothing more then a pathetic leisure activity for high society.
When anyone says the no San Francisco team has won a championship at home, it's BS. For all practical purposes, Stanford Stadium was the home field for the 49ers for that SB game, and it was in the Bay Area, just some 30 miles south of Candlestick Park. It's not unlike the 1975 Warriors having played two of the 1975 NBA Finals games at the Cow Palace instead of the Oakland Arena. That alone gave the NBA Championship of that year to San Francisco, not Oakland. No, it would be nice if the Giants could win a final WS game at home!
Kind of surprising they just glossed over the early Boomer/Wyche years: 1984 (nearly make the playoffs despite an 0-5 start) 1986 (10-6, barely miss playoffs, Boomer made his 1st Pro Bowl)
I uad this video tape as a kid. A gas station gave it to my dad in Gainesville Texas for filling up his truck. It was up to date at the time and I must have watched it a hundred times
I remeber that year as a kid kellen winslow scored 5 touchdowns and late Chuck Muncie thrown a td pass to Kellen in 55-21 victory over the Oakland Raiders in Oakland coliseum.
