I create handmade junk journals, journals and notebooks of various kinds, postcard art and digital ephemera. I adore old school analogue including paper ephemera, junk journals, gluing in stuff and buying too many craft and journal supplies :) Here we make journals, talk about journal related stuff and about life in general. Random visits from the cats, Lucy and Sophie are frequent :)
My mission with this channel is to have fun, connect with all of you, create some great journals and play with paper and craft supplies. Thanks for being here with me, Lisa xo
Were you born in the 70’s like me cause that could explain the plaid and Xmas connection. I remember so many cozy wool plaid blankets and fancy clothing worn at that time of year in plaid materials
YES!!!! OMg! That explains it LOL! I am 1967 and growing up plaid was synonymous w Christmas. Plaid taffeta was a favourite as a kid too. It seemed so grown up :) I always wanted a floor length, full circle plaid taffeta skirt with a big red bow. I had totally forgotten about that connection for plaid to Christmas. I feel a lot better now hahahah! Ty! :)
Love.these idea I also agree 100%..reset yourself or even take a break. Get outside and look for leaves, petals, and lots of fun things to put into your journal. You will be amazed at how the fresh air helps.
You are 100% right and you know, it sounds a bit weird but I do often forget just how important it is to get out of the house. I struggle w this bc I work from home and I love being at home. I get caught up in what I am doing and just sort of forget some days that there is a whole world out there, that can help, heal and relax. I know it sounds silly...bc well, just walk out the door. But-it truly is a habit I need to cultivate and work on daily. I have been telling myself for the entire year to slow down but I struggle with it. We can be our worst enemy. TY!! :)
Awwww, thank you Nancy! Glad you like them. I am not ready for all the green and red yet LOL! But I know many are. As always, I really appreciate your support and time. Hugs, Lisa xo
I dont think anyone should make you feel guilty about what you use in your journals. If it causes you guilt or anxiety, get rid of it. You create a way that makes you happy and feel good. I always say..i create the way that makes me happy.
YES!!!! So much yes. I agree 100% otherwise what is the point. I have to admit sometimes I do find myself swayed by the opinions of others but, I know deep down you are right. Thanks so much for watching :)
Your video just popped up in my feed. I take it as a sign that my room and cart need cleaned up, lol I recently did the reorganize dance in my craftroom. It is a struggle finding something that works without taking over. I finally found that sorting out seasons for the big stuff, especially Christmas and fall, i was able to sort the little stuff into those plastic sleeves (5x7) and label them. Then I could put them all in a file box. So far so good. As I need something for a journal I can pull a few items and keep them in my project file. Like you, I love little boxes, lots of little boxes.
Thanks Lori! The struggle is real AND it is always evolving. I do enjoy a fun day or reorganizing for sure but it can be frustrating. Those little plastic sleeves are very helpful and you can see what is in them. Bonus!! I am glad you found something that works for you bc that is most of the battle. That and remembering where you put things LOL! I like that you call it a project file. That is interesting to me. Obvious in many ways but I like the idea that you have a file just for the most current items. At least that is my interpretation of it :) Omg.....tiny boxes, all day every day ;) Thanks kindly for being here w me :)
I divided all of my ephemera by type: tags, flowers, postage stamps, labels, etc. I put them all into mesh zipper bags and labeled them. Then I put them in my cart alphabetically. When I want a postcard, I know to go to the bottom shelf and look for the bag. It helps to keep my desk clean and I know where everything is at the tip of my fingertips.
Hi my friend! I’m rewarding myself from all my packing to get an Ila & Alice fix! I really like the idea of a seasonal cart that’s paired down! I need to make a note of this to do when the move is done and the new craft room is set up. Hugs to you and the Girls.
It's great. Quite sturdy and the quality is good. I don't move it around a lot, but it rolls OK and I LOVE the five baskets. If I had to keep just one, that would be it. Let me know if you get one :)
@@ilaandalice oh guess who ordered one after your reply? It arrived same day. My husband is building it while I go to my stretch class so I have a whole new project to make me happy this weekend! Thank you as always for the inspiration!!
Love this video and the way you think out loud. And I also say you know what I mean jellybean all the time! I love adding to my share box which I bring to crops and put on the share table so I feel good about purging.
Awwwwww, that is so kind of you, thank you. That is my goal!! Whatever your hobby is, it should make you very happy and help you to feel calm and relaxed. That is the most important part. Stashing stuff away is a good idea and you can revisit later with fresh eyes. Thank YOU for being here w me :)
I am new to JJ and am in the buying everything stage from Michael’s, Hobby Lobby, Etsy, Amazon and TEMU 🙄. I was thinking of a couple of things: when you have a project in mind, grab a basket 🧺 or make a list of everything you want to put said basket as you think of it. Then in your cart, have a little box or container with samples of all the supplies you have to remind you of the backstock of the different items you bought. then also organize backstock by season and shuffle the cart or whatever as you want. That’s where my brain is going. Sometimes when you a see an item in your cart as you are working, your brain can say “oh yeah I can use that!”😊 That is where my brain is going 😊 😊
Hiya Julie! That is a great idea! I like it too bc you can put stuff on say the last shelf (basket) to use as stand by for the next/month season...just as a sort of reminder. Reminders are always good and very helpful for remembering what you have. Your brain is going in a very good direction. Because we are visual people, seeing it is the best way to spark our creativity and the whole process of putting a page together. Glad you have found JJ! It's so good :) Thank you for watching :)
You know Lisa, I think a lot of us are in this same boat! And I know once you get it done, it's wonderful! I just wish I could twitch my nose and make it happen! lol!🧡🖤
Thanks Nancy!! I have to say that even when the process is a bit frustrating I still enjoy it. Being in the mood helps but the feeling of accomplishment afterwards is amazing. Bewitched!! Yes! :)
I'm finding how I'm basically living my whole life, according to the seasons. I keep wondering if this is new or I'm just noticing? Cooking, reading, journaling, it changes with the seasons and I love it, it feels so natural. I laughed how you kept finding new things, as if you were shopping. 😃 This was a great video, verrrrrry helpful to me and my creative mojo!
I just had to come reply again and tell you this really inspired me to work on my paper cart and it's way better, more logical and useful (I have a different cart for stickers) and organize some other areas. Like why do I have some labels, here, some labels, there, etc.? Well, because apparently I didn't want to shame myself when I realized I probably have THOUSANDS of labels, I kid you not. 😝 I could open a label store, just labels, only labels. #millionaire
Ooooooh! That is interesting!!! and you know, I feel the same way. I am not sure why the season have more significance to me now but they do. Honestly, it's just fun. It is natural. I can't image living in a place where it is just one season. I am so glad you enjoyed it and found it helpful. OH! Thanks for the email. Great suggestion...ill respond tomorrow. xo
You are hilarious but you are so right about how much of one item do we really need ?! I like the idea of sorting by seasons type of thing. I’ll be reorganizing my whole craft room soon; since we are doing renovations (so everything is packed)…it will give me a fresh start.
I try!! LOL!! I wasn't always a seasonal "sortist" but over the past couple of years I have found that not only do I enjoy it but I like how it helps to get me focused and it gives me direction. Sometimes the idea of just collaging is overwhelming and Im not sure where to start. Once I have direction Im good but without it, I flounder hard. Thanks as always for your kind support. Hugs xo
First - totally get the filing thing. Used to ask my dad if I could do the filing at his office and library card catalog? Heaven. Besides you can see all your stuff much better. Smart. Second - yes to ephemera grab bags! I was thinking that early on in the video. So many things I would like to use but I don’t need 50 library cards and envelopes. Third - just have four carts - one for each season and you’re done! 😅
I might have to do a little research and see if there is a reason why filing lights us up. Maybe it's a lizard brain thing...that would explain a lot :) Oh good! I am glad you like the ephemera idea. I am going to put some together after I get all the Halloween decor done. I don't think Ill make them any kind of theme...just stuff. I might colour coordinate some. Right??! We don't need a ton of the same thing, even tho it feels like we want them. Four carts?! OK! Don't have to tell me twice! I am going to have a "start the car" Ikea moment very soon hahahaha! xo
Cats and boxes cannot be seperated ;) I love watching tigers and big cats get into boxes too. So funny bc no matter the size ALL cats love boxes ;) Thanks for watching :)
I totally caught your vibe today. September is sort of a catch-up month for me in my memory planner so I dragged that out to play. Right now, junque is lighting me up! Brochures from the nature center, museums, magazines, etc. Only today, I added a little watercolor. I DON'T KNOW ANYTHING ABOUT WATERCOLORS! But they've been in my stash for some time and I watch videos on them. I feel so accomplished, like you! I have pulled back from social media except youtube and the occasional IG stroll (not scroll!) I think it's helping me. As always, thanks for sharing your heart and your art!
OMG! So exciting for you!! Watercolour is so pretty and how great that you just went for it and played with your colours :) Funny how one day you just know it is time to try something new. No overthinking or humming and hawing...you just do it. I love those moments. So much potential and possibility comes from those times of sheer determination, bravery when we go with our gut. So happy for you!! Our intuition knows. A social media break can do wonders. It's nice to go back and visit but the key is not to get stuck there bc we start to compare. Congrats on your breakthru!! Hugs xo
You make me smile :) Thank you!! I never thought of it as "clean" but you are right. I tend to think of myself as chaotic so I like the fact that you see it as clean and tidy. It's a great example of you just never know how others perceive or work :) I may or may not have too many TH stamps.....but then I think, define too many ;) Hugs xo
Lisa, this was a great v.ideo. I sure feel that way sometimes and getting overwhelmed happens too often. Especially when you are a RU-vid creator. Just getting out a few items and playing with them is a great exercise. Thanks friend!🥰
Awww, thanks you Nancy! A few items and a sense of direction. I can get easily lost when I don't have direction and then I kind of go in circles and get frustrated. Once I know which way Im going Im OK but some days that doesn't come easy. Thanks as always for being here xo
Awwwww, that is very kind of you. Thank you!! When I read comments like this I really feel like I have done what I set out to do :) I don't need thousands of views or likes. I just need and hope for, one person or maybe two to say exactly what you said. I really do appreciate that. Thank YOU for watching. Hugs xo
Very corky and fun ideas. I 🩷 the mushroom stamps because I’ve been on the fence about creating a fairy garden junk journal 🧚 📓 . Goodnight to you and Lucy🌙 ❤️ 🐾🐾
Thank you Janie!! OMG...YES!! Do a fairy garden journal. Everything in a fairy garden journal is so lovely. From mushrooms and ferns to fairies and woodland creatures. Do it :) Thank you for being here xo
The Haunt Season is The Absolute Busiest Time of year for me. As an EFX-Makeup Artist & Haunted Attraction Actress, I hardly ever see my own home between Mid-September & the 1st Weekend in November! Since I don't have much time for Crafting during The Spooky Season; I love Crafting in Witchy, Ghostie, Creepy-Cute, Magical, Mystical, Dark-Moody, Gothic, Pastelloween, Halloween Themes All Year Long!!! LOL! I love Love LOVE these Journals!!!
You are very sweet, thank you!!! Everyday is Halloween in my opinion too. I am glad you have worked out how to make the most of the best season all year 'round :) Thanks for watching!
