was the first lamp unused, or did you put in a new wick before disassembly? The wick you removed was flexible, and showed no discoloration of ever having been exposed to kerosene, AND WAS NEVER LIT (removed at 1:55 the burn end has never been lit) . (unless you cut the burned end off, off camera before removing it.) Both of these lanterns look to be in excellent condition prior to restoration. NO visible rust or corrosion. (why did you WD-40 the fuel cap, and use pliers to take it off???) The lantern you took apart on camera has obviously never been used. The distilled vinegar was not really very dirty after soaking both for three days. Very little if any rust present on either. At 2:00 both the original wicks are unused/unlit.Neither has stains from Kerosene or a lamp oil. It seems your "restoration" is naught but a repaint, either the original silver color (which was not in bad condition) or the more common red, is my guess, unless you painted them black. Regardless, I am not going to watch to find out what color you painted them... Use them in good health.
The lamps are shown at the start of the video as the condition they were in when they came into my possession. I can only assume the wick was changed by a previous owner. There was rust mostly around the base and especially on the bottom of both lanterns, as well as one of the caps being rusted shut which was the reason for the WD-40 and pliers.
