@jonmichaels74 The 1968 Plymouth VIP was basically a high trim level Plymouth Fury, with different emblems, a fancier interior and possibly other power options. The Commando designated the big-block engine, (not a 6 cylinder or small block 318). They are relatively rare, but it is/was all original and done at the factory.
Look at it from the bright side; Chargers and Belvedere's gained huge popularity since the Dukes of Hazzard and Christine. This prolly saved more of them from the crusher then they used up during filming.
The Plymouth was an odd car. I'm not sure of the model on that one. The previous owner had "modified" it. All of the original name plates had been removed and some curly-q lettering saying "VIP" had been put in its place. The only original plate that still existed said "Commando" and "V8."
I remember the owner of the junk yard (and driver of the Cadillac... a demolition derby driver) saying that it was a '68 Ford. I couldn't remember the model. I'm a sound guy. Not so much of a car guy.
The old cars were purchased from a junk yard for $300 each. The Plymouth and the Taurus had working engines. The Mustang did not. The engine in the Plymouth was saved and it will live again in another vehicle. Other than that, it was in much worse shape that it appears to be in this video.
