It is FAR from perfect, but when I lived there I always had a good paying job. However, a lot of rude people. I was assaulted by some lady who thought I was taking pictures of her when I was taking pictures of some thing else. She tried to snag my camera from me meanwhile, she was trying to beat the shit out of me on third Street. The streets are total trash, but I was impressed with the fact that I could text a location and a pothole would be filled but still. I saw some crazy stuff going on in the grocery stores. And there were a lot of people passed out from drugs, and I saw other people, hitting the crack pipe on church steps in Old Louisville. The city has a lot of potential, but there is nothing to help anybody and distress there. I think for me, everybody’s bourbon, dense, and their cars, how rude people are, and if you disagree with somebody, they will never talk to you again. In terms of buying a house, there’s no way I would buy a house there. I am low-key kind of thinking about moving there, but I keep seeing videos of people driving around and I’m like hard pass. I would rather pay an extra $500 and live someplace a little nicer.
I live in Old Louisville and its a beautiful area with old homes And a charming central park. We do have a transient issues but what city doesn't it's still nice and its affordable if you're renting.
Born and raised in Louisville.. Not having a real estate license I can say anything about the city as I no longer live there. I strongly urge anyone to avoid the west end. If you rent a car the map they give you stops showing anything west of 22d street.
Went to Armor school for the US Army many years ago. Really loved driving up to Lousiville on my days off. Good restuarants and the city was not too big and the people were great. I recall a Dixie Highway and was it also known as Hwy 31? Now that i am old I am thinking of a chepaer area to live but Nashville is getting way too expensive.
We looked in three counties because the inventory was so low. We ended up in Middletown with a For Sale by Owner house and the realtor closed both sides. Love my secret neighborhood off Shelbyville Rd.. Living near Paul’s is priceless. 😆
Interesting fact. 265 when being built in the 70s and 80s was planned and zoned out to be Six lanes but they made it 4 lanes. By the time they were done it was already outdated.
You all act like the West End has always been populated with minority or low class people. Northwestern and Southwestern Pkwys are the most beautiful parts of the city. Olmstead park, riverfront property, golf course, and a plethora of prestigious mansions. And of course, if you know anything about history. Whites lived here 1st. Matthew 7:7. Please read with caution.
High crime, extremely liberal democrat elected leaders, high drug issues, downtown is a nightmare's nighmare that residents totally despise because hospitals are crammed together, conjestion, parking is just as horrible + expensive & limited. Govt housing is being erected everywhere that invites numerous more troubles. Also, I know several elders that refuse medical treatment if told their appointments are downtown. Police are great, hut morale & shortage of officers are crucial. Louisville is so bad, liberal leaders tried to get a new V.A. Hospital downtown ignoring outrage from all Veterans. Thankfully, it finally failed. Oh, public schools are horrible. Bottom line, adjacent counties are considered great & much preferred as well as southern Indiana. Do your own objective research and be thorough.
There is NO side of town like that actually. The black folks of Jefferson Co live COUNTY WIDE. I know its hard for a small brain like yours to even imagine that could possibly be.
I'm 60 years old an todays Louisville is dirty an crime is at a all time high due to defending police Louisville is 300 officers down an no body is applying for a job in law enforcement with our last mayor an our current mayor the city officials are supporting criminals an not police Louisville is paying criminals over 55.000 a year with all city benefits there paying all these fellons that kind of money to be a community watch dog in there naghborhood an since this program has been in affect crime has gone up every year so if ur moving here u must like garbage everywhere an crime 24 hours a day I'm getting the hell out as soon as possible

Moved away from the highlands in the 80s to Fl when I was a kid. I’m now 46 and come back every year to the highlands. Looking to buy a 2nd home up there. Can get a colonial built in the 20s for the same $$ as 1400sq ft house in Sarasota that was built in the 90s. There’s no comparison.

I lived in Louisville for about a year because I’m a pilot for UPS but I really never got a chance to see most of these areas since I was usually flying out of the country. I am considering buying a quadplex investment property in Louisville to live in one of the units. I’m still trying to choose a safe and desirable area with a good rental market but your video was a good start.
My plan is to relocate to Lexington this year (2024) but I am also being open to other opportunities like Frankfort..Georgetown...Richmond.. there is a lot of chatter about the crime and pan-handling in Louisville from other realtors, so I don't think it is a rumor. I can buy a lot nicer house in Louisville with lower property taxes and the traffic seems to be better than in Lexington...If the Table Tennis is strong in Louisville, I would consider it otherwise Lexington has a good club it is important to me.
Thankfully, I just moved out of Louisville. After 15+ years living in Louisville, I believe this narrator inadvertently or purposely left out the #1 reason, which he glossed over. Reason #1 should have been it is a very liberal high crime Democrat Socialist run city with #2 nightmare being outrageously high taxes, very very poor public schools / education, pot hole infested roads, and local politicans ruining past wonderful neighborhoods with the rubber stamping approval resulting in inundating everywhere Section 8 housing. In contrast, if you love WOKE, BLM, etc and the influx of illegals, then living Louisville is absolutely for you. Do your research because almost all my friends detested a past wonderful Louisville and moved away just like I did. Again, Research the facts, then decide on your own.
