Hi @ joy Hardy , No it just releases the air so the vacuum seal doesn't make it impossible to undo, the lids appears to remain undamaged and intact from my own experience, I used to use a knife to do the same thing but this is much safer.

Nope. The one main function is to vent out hot steam from the pie filling so it won't be soggy. The secondary function is to entertain people around it. Pie birds are the fancier form of the upside down white ceramic funnel which fuctions as the steam venting device of the pie, just like a chimney above a stove in a house. Beside these 2 main designs (the black bird, and the simple white ceramic funnel), there're many pie birds with cute carricatural forms, such as chickens, rabbits, pigs, mushroom, etc. which could be collectible items for some hobbyists 🤗

I got my ravioli press at the goodwill. It is as Williams Sonoma one, real nice, so it didn't come with a recipe. I just use some recipes for pasta I found on the internet and use my Atlas pasta machine to roll it out. It fits perfectly in the press

It helps release moisture so you don't get a soggy pie bottom! (I know this is like a year late....)

I think it's more work to put the filling in the piping bag and then you have that "piping bag mess". A small dough scoop would be good.

You don't. Unzip and roll the crust on your roller then roll out on top of your pie...super easy.
